Overview

We all know the feeling of being stuck in a puzzle game. Some prefer hints over solutions, and this is exactly what this guide offers.

Stuff

  • Notation: “baba” = baba text, whereas baba = object baba.
  • Hints are ranked from vague to explicit, view one at a time for minimum spoilers.
  • Intended or not, some levels have alternative solutions which are also included in the guide.
  • We are not native speakers, expect some mistakes.
  • “Forest” refers to Ch.5 (Deep Forest), whereas Ch.4 (Forest of Fall) is referred to as “Fall”.
  • If you find hints that are misleading, unhelpful or both, feel free to leave a comment, and we will revise. Thanks in advance!
  • Game is constantly updated at this point. Although we’re trying our best to cover everything, oversights are likely to happen. Some hints might be outdated, allow me to restate the previous bullet point.
  • As opposed to other Sokoban games, the execution part of Baba is easy. Most of the difficulty arises from the thought process, so don’t expect hints to give clear instructions on what to do, as stated in the title: “hint is not solution”.
  • Feel free ask for hints on levels that aren’t included in the guide at the moment.
  • Baba is good, not baba is uninstall.

Overworld 0-7

Level 0 – Baba Is You

Hint:
You’re just curious to see what I have to comment on this one, very good.

Level 1 – Where Do I Go?

Wall doesn’t act as one if it’s not stop.

Level 2 – Now What Is This?

Exactly the same as level 1, only the underlying logic matters.

Access the other side of the map beyond the flag, but with whom?
Hint 2:
With another baba.

Level 12 – Crab Storage

Hint 1:
Override.
Hint 2:
Crab is win.

Level 13 – Burglary

Hint:
It’s not necessary to open the door.

Alternative solution hint:
Break “wall is stop”.

Extra 1 – Submerged Ruins

Hint:
You can not activate “crab is defeat” from the start.

Extra 2 – Sunken Temple

Level 0 – Poem

Hint:
Use the gap on “violet”‘s left.

Hint:
Float and non-float objects do not interact.

This level can be solved even if “water is stop”.

Level 3 – Bridge Building

Hint:
At hindsight, the rock stuck in the corner is useless.

Level 4 – Bridge Building?

Hint:
There’s an advantage and a disadvantage to rock being float, use that advantage.

Level 5 – Victory Spring

Hint:
Lake-5 flashbacks.

Level 6 – Research Facility

Hint 1:
To salvage “win”, “defeat” is inevitably pushed into “skull is hot”. Therefore “skull” must be pushed away by bolt, but then again “skull is hot” which melts bolt.
Hint 2:
With good timing the conundrum can be resolved.

Level 7 – Assembly Team

Hint:
Baba demands a noble sacrifice.

Level 8 – Tiny Pond

Hint:
You can get “win” out of the pond.

Level 9 – Catch The Thief!

Hint:
Thief can intrude.

Level 10 – Wireless Connection

Hint:
Two automation and two text to deliver.

Level 11 – Prison

Hint:
Text can be pushed onto keke.

Level 12 – Evaporating River

Hint:
Destroy one skull.

Level 4 – Telephone

Hint:
Teleport the ___, you decide.

Level 5 – Haunt

How do you win?
Hint 2:
Need the “is” in “leaf is defeat”.

Level 6 – Crate Square

Hint:
Pull the flag out without melting it.

Stand still but move, somehow.

Level 8 – Ghost Guard

Key cannot be pushed, how to move it?
Hint 2:
Push the teleporter.

Level 9 – Leaf Chamber

Hint:
Mainly use “pull”, only use “move” to position, and pull out the fungus.

Alternative solution hint 1:
Fungus can be retrieved without moving the key.
Alternative solution hint 2:
Well-timed moving leaves.

Level 10 – Not There

Hint:
Override.

Level 11 – Catch

Hint:
Push “baba is” to the right without losing control of baba.

Level 12 – Dead End

Hint:
“Not push” looks fishy.

Level A – Literacy

Hint:
Wall is defeat, not stop.

Level B – Broken Playground

Hint:
Text cannot be teleported, but objects can.

Alternative solution hint:
This solution is dumb but fun, explore how “text is you” can be utilized.

Level C – Fetching

Hint:
Along with Island-10 and Fall-5, game teaches you yet another way to break a sentence.

Level D – Scenic Pond

Hint 1:
Float over skull.
Hint 2:
In order to form “baba is float”, a noble sacrifice must be made.

Level E – Skeletal Door

Hint:
Fall-B and Ruins Extra 1 flashbacks.

Extra 1 – Jump

Hint:
Same trick as fall-1, but with more efficient use of resources.

Extra 2 – Even Less There

Hint 1 for both solutions:
There’s only 1 “is”, so “baba” can only be used once. Otherwise “baba is win” would have sealed the deal.
Hint 2:
Be on the fence when you create “fence is win”.

Hint 2 for alternative solution:
Try to not use “baba” but still have the “baba is win” effect.
Hint 3 for alternative solution:
Baba is not fence.

Extra 3 – Deep Pool

Skull is defeat, need immortality.

Hint:
Experiment with how shift works. Note that wall is defeat, not stop.

Hint:
Experiment with how up works, and dig ghost out of the pit.

Level 7 – Concrete Goals

Hint:
Flag is stop, but baba is not.

Level 8 – Victory in the Open

Hint:
Control keke remotely.

Level 9 – Moving Floor

Hint:
Belt when facing a wall cannot affect your movement.

Level 10 – Lovely House

Hint:
Maximize your resources, make 2 out of 1.

Level 11 – Supermarket

Hint 1:
We all know where rock should go, but can baba make it in time?
Hint 2:
First position the rock, then switch belt directions.

Level 12 – Lock the Door

Hint 1:
Think deep. “Shift” objects will push objects on the same tile to the next tile it’s facing.
Hint 2:
Build a remote device that automatically moves in a straight line.

Level 13 – Factory

Hint:
Pesticide.

Level 14 – Tiny Pasture

Hint:
Forest-3 flashbacks, how to deal with the corner?

Level A – Nearly

Hint:
Swap the “swap”.

Level B – Not Quite

Hint:
Reminds me of how mathematicians solve problems: transform it into an already solved scenario.

Level C – Passing Through

Hint:
Both skull and keke can move, but only keke is swap.

Level D – Salvage

Hint:
Break the skull chamber without using brute force.

Level E – Insulation

Hint 1:
Of which direction do you want which wall to be swapped towards?
Hint 2:
Where do you want baba to be when this happens?

Extra 1 – Crumbling Floor

Hint:
Don’t have enough resource to waste on each of the bugs.

Extra 2 – Skull House

Hint 1:
Forest-10 flashbacks, now do it with a deep understanding of game mechanics.
Hint 2:
“A is B” doesn’t actually transform A into B, instead A vanquishes and B appears on the same spot.

Rocket Trip

Level 1 – Empty

Hint:
Empty, is an instance, that is empty.

Level 2 – Lonely Flag

Hint:
Empty can be transformed.

Level 3 – Babas Are You

Hint:
Create baba on the other side of the wall.

Level 4 – Please Hold My Key

Hint 1:
“Fall” objects can be supported from below.
Hint 2:
Build a mobile bridge.

Level 5 – Horror Story

Hint 1:
Crazy things will happen when “empty is you”: press left and some empties will move left and overlap with other empties, empties will emerge from tiles that are actually empty. Any of these can’t be observed, but what can be observed is the interaction between empty and other objects.
Hint 2:
Can’t win with “empty is you”, the tile where the flag is on is always non-empty.

Level 6 – Aiming High

Hint:
One baba pushes and the other carries.

Level 7 – Trio

Hint 1:
Use keke to break “skull is defeat”, keke has to be falling down that pit facing left.
Hint 2:
Let keke bump into a wall a return left.

Level 8 – Bottleneck

Hint 1:
Action at a distance.
Hint 2:
Think of how “empty is push” works, thoroughly.

Level 9 – Platformer

Hint:
The key is actually useless, use something else to open the door.

Level 10 – The Pit

Hint 1:
Get one text over there to destroy the door.
Hint 2:
Change “moon is you” from horizontal to vertical.

Level 11 – Heavy Words

Hint 1:
Need “dust is weak”, “moon is win” and “star is push”.
Hint 2:
Reuse the “is” from “star is push”.

Level 12 – Guardians

Hint 1:
Think of how “empty is pull” works, thoroughly.
Hint 2:
Ice is not empty, empty can be pulled onto ice.

Level 13 – Sky Hold

Hint 1:
Create a key by destroying something.
Hint 2:
Need something that is open and something that is shut.

Extra 1 – Existential Crisis

Hint 1:
Think of how empty (as you) interact with objects that are and aren’t pushable.
Hint 2:
Let baba approach flag without being vanquished by moon.

Extra 2 – Heavy Cloud (OUTDATED)

Hint 1:
Similar idea to Space-11, but the star is useful here.
Hint 2:
Form “dust is weak” vertically.

Level 1 – Condition

Hint:
Change grass into key, but not all of them.

Level 2 – Thicket

Hint 1:
Clear a trail for you to backtrack.
Hint 2:
Grass is shut.

Level 3 – Sorting Facility

Hint:
Make belt able to transport rock whilst not being able to obscure anything else.

Level 4 – Relaxing Spot

Hint 1:
Need to bring two objects over the one-way belt, but it will separate any overlapped objects.
Hint 2:
Overlap the objects on the other side of belt.

Level 5 – Maritime Adventures

Hint 1:
Need a way to indirectly control an object’s movement. Using “move” is a good start, but you’ll need a scheme to change the direction in which it’s moving.
Hint 2:
Only “you” can change the direction.
Hint 3:
Pay attention to the seemingly useless things in the level, and use them.

Level 6 – Ruined Orchard

Hint:
If only we can have “belt make key” and “belt is shift” at the same time.

Level 7 – Blockade

Hint 1:
Nullify “water is sink”.
Hint 2:
Sink the bottom left and bottom middle water tiles.

Level 8 – Jaywalkers United

Protect “flag on rock is me”
Hint 2:
Need “rock is push” to move rock to flag, but with “rock is push” you cannot win.

Push the key out from the inside.

How to access:

Hint 1:
Same idea as the previous level to create “keke is you”, except that you can’t do it with the “baba is move” hopping technique.
Hint 2:
But you still need to push “you” two tiles to the right. If it can’t be done in one turn, you‘ll need to have “baba is move” active after you’ve pushed “you” to the right and lost control of baba.

Turn keke into baba at the beginning.
