Guide to Cars on Absolute Drift

Overview

This is pretty much a guide on all the cars in Absolute Drift. I’ll go over the cars origins, what they are like to drive and what they’re best at. These are my own opinions, so don’t get too triggered. I’m just laying down the basics. The feel of the cars, their strengths, their weaknesses and so forth. Enjoy

1. The Original

Alright, so the first car you receive in the game is The Original, It’s based on the classic icon, the Toyota Sprinter Trueno A.K.A “Hachi-Roku” or AE86 for short. Most well know for its role in the Initial D anime it is a classic drifter from the 80’s and is rumoured to be the first car to go sideways in history.

It’s not a very powerful car, like its real life counterpart. It’s gets the job done, you can get from A to B sideways no problem, you’ll just get there a slowly. Really though it is a good beginners car, you get upgraded to a new car fairly early on anyway. I would recommend that you use this car until you are confident enough to use a bit of a more powerful car. It handles well like I said before drifts just fine, it will basically teach you how to drift.

So it’s a good car, drifts well, is a bit slow but gets the job done.

2. The Super

The Super is based off of the 90’s JDM legend the Toyota Supra, widely known for its straight-6 Turbocharged and Twin-Turbocharged engine, the 2JZ-GTE, with it’s invincible engine block allowing for heavy engine tuning without straining the engine.

The Super actually has more power than the Missile even though you unlock the Super earlier on. The Super can be pushed hard without it spinning out, but if driven to madly it will bite back. Unlike the Missile, this car has the ability to keep nice long drifts going, it does however struggle to keep it going through hairpins and 90 degree turns, as it’s turning angle is a bit too narrow.

I would suggest using this car for getting good mountain run times and on most drift tracks. A powerful car and a powerful drifting machine.

3. The Missile

This car is pretty much a beaten up rustbucket that goes fast and slides great.

The Missile is based off of the Nissan 180SX. The name of this car refers to the term “Drift Missile” in the car world. A Drift Missile is basically a car that has broken or missing bits and pieces, but that can drift well. so really its a car that is built for performance and the exterior is left as is, if a bumber gets cracked it is simply zip-tied or if a headlight is smashed it is removed altogether and continues on pulling some mad skids.

The Missile handles suprisingly well actually, easy to maintain a clean continuous drift. It does lack that needed power to keep long drifts going, but it’s really stable. It has more power than The Original but less than every other car, but only by a small margin.

It can be used for mountian runs, but it really is best and Driftkhana’s. Fun to drive and easy to use, very stable and is quite fast. It is really good for drift tracks too because of it’s wide turning angle, making it easy to take hairpins at a sharp angle without losing control.

4. Das Whip

FOR DAS MOTHERLAND

This car is based off of the BMW M3 E30, a very well know 1980’s german sports car and rallying icon. This car was produced to rival Mercedes’ 190E Cosworth Evo. The M3 is packing a 2.5L 4 banger and it’s not hard to see why Das Whip is such a great car in game.

It is quite powerful, enough to keep long controlled drifts going, leaving you very satisfied when you pull one off just right. The car feels like it is driven by all 4 wheels, even though it isn’t. It’s ability to be a great car for long drifts means that it is not so good at taking hairpins or 90 degree turns as it’s turning angle is narrow, similar to the Super’s.

It is a great car though, feels good to drift, lets you hang loose and let it go wild and is very rewarding in the way it exits turns. A brilliant car for Driftkhanas and drift tracks, while even being quite good for most mountain runs.

5. Hooniwagon

The Hooniwagon is based off of the Volvo 200 series of the late 70’s. Lots of Eurpeon tuners like to modify these wagons as they actually look quite nice and have great tuning capabilities, with many owners doing engine swaps, with a plethora of powerful modern engine models such as JZ’s, RB’s and even LS’s.

The Hooniwagon is, put simply, a beast. It goes damn fast and can get extremely sideways with it’s massive steering capabilities, making it perfect for mountain runs and a few drift tracks. Similar to Das Whip it feels as though it is a 4-wheel-driven car. It looks pretty cool and sounds fantastic, it’s a load of fun to drift and is capable of carrying you all the way to the top 50 or better in any event if used correctly.

Amazing car, takes a little bit of getting used to, but is a great drive nonetheless.

6. The Hoonivan

This car scares me tbh, I don’t even know where to begin.

So this car was pretty much the creation of some lunatic a mission to make a car with the worlds crasiest power/weight ratio. The vans owner decided to shove a 20B triple rotor into a Daihatsu van the size of a small horse. The owner did achieve the insane power/weight ratio as (according to my calculations) it’s about 2hp/kg. The end result was a fire breathing, tire shredding, crowd pleasing monster which releases more CO2 into the atmosphere than an oil fire.

This car is pretty much just a meme mobile, I mean, I’ve played over 50 hours of this game and even I can’t complete a course without spinning out of hitting a wall with this car (I could just be bad though). It is fun as hell to drive though, it’s just near impossible to do well with. Unless you’re a literal DK or something idk. Just use this car for what it is, a meme. Or just impress you’re friends when they see you drifting something that sounds like an F1 car but has the appearance of a van like the drift God you are.

That’s it m8, go drift some cars, yeah?

Well that’s all the cars explained as much as I thought necessary. These analogies will hopefully help you work out which car you’ll be best at using, gave you a good read and was a pleasant way to spend 10-20 mins reading.

Lemme know if I missed anything or if you would like to hear some more stuff about the cars, I’m sure I missed somethings so don’t hesitate to consult me 🙂

Thanks, have fun pulling some skids with the skids, Bye.
