Overview
Not all who wander are lostThis is a general guide to most events in Dead In Vinland. While trying to finish the game I got quite frustrated with the lack of guides for the game. So since after finishing the game I wanted to play it some more, explore the things I didn’t the first several times, I decided to write a guide to help all those travelers stuck in Vinland, confused and looking for just a little bit of help on how to survive. I’ve done my best to collect as much information possible, but I don’t have everything because even the chance of an event appearing on any given map is random.
Basics
Remember: Everything is random! Sure sometimes it will feel like all the buildings that you have the least resources to fix seem to decay faster than the ones you have plenty of resources for. Sure it seems like the gods against you when a 60% chance to succeed roll fails 4 times in a row. But remember, there was also that one time when a 30% chance succeeded twice in a row. It’s all a chance! Even on the map, there are only a couple of things which have set locations, the rest, including the list of events that will appear, are randomized.

- a number after an action (like x1) means that you can only try the action that many times
- when choosing a character for action, remember to look at the second number, not just the skill number
- remember to check each character’s activity after every half day
- don’t do hunting or fishing events unless you can cook or dry the meat soon
- adapt to your needs
These are the tributes as much as I’ve seen them.
Fresh produce tributes have some sort of an extra way so don’t stress about those too much. “Fetch more” with +fatigue for fruit, “Eat mud” with +sickness for meat.
Giving the exact number doesn’t change the threat level. Giving more decreases threat and giving less increases threat. If your threat reaches a new notch, Björn’s people will pay a visit to you and you’ll get bullied.

Working at almost every station can give you a point or two in either innate or acquired skills, or sometimes even both at the same time.
