Contraband
Contraband is an item that has red text. If a guard sees it on the ground they will pick it up. If they find it in your Desk you will be sent to Solitary.
The Multitool is currently the best digging tool ever. However, it cannot cut bars, unscrew vents. (You don’t need one of these:
)
Many things are Contraband. You will find more about stuff like this later in the guide.
Examples Of Contraband
A classic example of well hidden Contraband could be the Bed Dummy. The moment you wake up you will have enough INT to make a Bed Dummy. Place these in your bed until Lights Out. Keep it in your hotbar and place it back when you wake up.
In that picture my friend is selling some Contraband. The Guard Outfit is probably needed for escape. Your heat will rise very fast though. A crowbar can be used for chipping and to make pickaxes. I personally prefer Plastic Forks though. The Bottle of Sleeping Pills is supposed to make people knocked out for longer but for me it’s glitched.
Yes, my friend is selling THREE Shaving Creams! Shaving Crean isn’t Contraband but it disables cameras for thirty seconds. The Stepladder is Contraband and it’s basically a ladder you can stand on to get in the vents.
Vents & Utility Areas
The Vents are a good space to store Contraband. You will need about 5 or 6 to make the vents an everyday thing. Fake Vent Covers are hard to get. First, you might need your precious Screwdriver (or something else like a File) to get into the Vents, While Utility Areas require a Poster and a chipping thing. I would not use your super cool Multitool to get into these areas. Fake Vent Covers require 2 Super Glue and 2 Toilet Paper Rolls. Turn 1 Super Glue and 1 Toilet Paper Roll into Paper Mache. You do need 30 INT to craft these.
Posters are made out of 1 Duct Tape and 1 Magazine. You must be careful in Utility Area because if you put Contraband too close to a door, you will lose all your Contraband because a guard will steal it. NEVER PUT DIRT IN THESE AREAS!!! If a guard sees dirt there they will trace it back to you and you will lose the gap.
A Poster in a wall will look very different. Do not use Fake Wall Blocks which require 2 Paper Mache and a Jar Of Ink. Use Paper Mache on Fake Vent Covers!
Contraband Detectors
Look where my cursor is. RIGHT ABOVE A DETECTOR!!! If you have Contraband on you while you walk through, boom! Your heat goes up to 99%. If you have a Contraband Pouch it will not happen though.
In this photo you will see a guard face but there will be a percentage. If it’s above 89%, you can get shot and will be attacked.
If an Inmates is knocked out and you see maybe they have 1 File and 1 Trowel and you need those but the Detector is there, take him under the Detector then take his stuff after the Detector.
Your Desk
A well organized Desk. You’ve got some misc. stuff at the top row, your important items in the middle, and Contraband at the bottom!
