Guide to the Inverse

Overview

A brief introduction to the inverse.

Before we start

InnerSpace is a game designed around discovery, much of the experience is revealed with time. While we encourage you to spend as much time as you want, this guide is meant to provide direction to areas of interest.

Glossary of Terms

  • Airframe—The Archaeologist’s name for planes. You have multiple airframes with different capabilities.
  • Perch—Glowing orbs that allow you to suspend in mid-air. Some allow you to get a better angle while others are just good for taking a short rest.
  • Sticky Perch—Glowing orbs that you get stuck in and mash your way out.
  • Accordion Bloom—Plants that bloom when you get near them. When they bloom a small light will fly out of them (if you chase them, they may lead you somewhere cool).
  • Transverse Gate—Ancient structures that allow travel between chambers.
  • Wind— Energy that can be found and collected throughout the world. Collecting Wind is required for certain upgrades and will activate certain relics.

Meet the Airframes

Piano

Ah, the trusty Piano. A fairly balanced airframe, it should suit your needs in any biome within the vast reaches of the Inverse. It’s constructed of metal that has a musical resonance. As you fly, you may notice a lovely sound emanating from your wings. Depending on the chamber you’re in, you may even notice a change in tone.

Zephyr Spark

In the open air, I’m not sure any other creature, drone, or demigod could keep up with you. Be careful if you take it indoors, though. I put so much into its pure speed, I had to sacrifice its ability to turn. You’ll need to master the drift maneuver in order to get through tight spaces. If you need to move quickly, this is the airframe you want.

Tidal Horn

This airframe excels underwater. I’d challenge you to a race, but I doubt my submarine would stand a chance. You’ll notice you have a great deal of control at all speed. If the boost gets you into trouble, the brake should get you out of it.

Astral Key

This is built from an exotic, impressive material I’ve never encountered before. I was able to grant you increased control in this airframe. You’ll find turning to be a breeze. Navigating the narrow mazes of the Inverse should prove to be much less difficult. It’s in the narrow spaces where we find the most relics. Always be searching!

Traversing the Inverse (movement)

Drifting (Left Shoulder Button)

[link]
Drifting lets you survey your surroundings and look for entrances to structures as you glide around them. It also lets you change direction quickly.

[link]
Tight spaces ahead. Drifting allows you to avoid walls and make quick decisions. Eventually, you’ll have the skills to make some epic trench runs.

Surveying

[link]
If you want to survey the area from a new angle, fly towards the center of the chamber. Then, drift to get your bearings and plan your next flight path.

Rolling (Barrels not included)

[link]
Depending on how much space you have, you can yaw for a wide turn or roll into it for a tighter maneuver.

Scraping

[link]
Your wings are pretty rugged, so don’t be afraid to scrape them against walls and see what might come tumbling down.

Surfacing

After surfacing, you can spread your wings to take… or just enjoy falling back to the ocean in a majestic Dolphin Dive.
