How to enter commands, and where?

First we need to enable developer console. We can find such console in every source engine based game. If we want to enable it, we need to open Options, go to the keyboard section and click “Advanced”. Now we need to mark “Enable developer console”

If we want to open console, we need to click this tilde on keyboard.

The following commands will not work if don’t type “sv_cheats 1” in console.
With enabled sv_cheats 1 you’ll not be able to receive achviements.

NPC Spawning Commands

Copy the command, paste in console and rename [name] to following characters.
By using this command we can spawn various NPC’s. If you don’t know what a NPC is, it’s a AI controlled character like Alyx or Vortigaunt.

Simply type “npc_kill” in your console, but remember to type “developer 1” before doing it.

Items & Weapons

By using this command we can spawn various items on the ground like healthkits, ammo etc. The item will appear under you after you type in the command.

item_healthkit – Spawns health kit
item_healthvial – Spawns health vial
item_box_buckshot – Spawns shotgun ammo
item_box_mrounds – Spawns SMG ammo
item_box_sniper_rounds – Spawns crossbow ammo
item_box_srounds – Spawns AR2 ammo
item_battery – Spawns HEV suit battery
item_suit – Spawns HEV Suit
item_ml_grenade – Spawns SMG grenade (alt attack)
item_ar2_grenade – Spawns AR2 gravity ball (alt attack)

weapon_ar2 – Spawn a Pulse Rifle
weapon_bugbait – Spawn a Bug Bait
weapon_crowbar – Spawn crowbar
weapon_frag – Spawns an frag grenade
weapon_crossbow – Spawns a crossbow
weapon_alyxgun – Spawns Alyx Gun
weapon_physcannon – Spawns Gravity Gun
weapon_physgun – Spawns Physics Gun (only hl2 beta)
weapon_pistol – Spawns 9 mm Pistol
weapon_rpg – Spawns RPG
weapon_shotgun – Spawns Classic Shotgun (SPAS-12)
weapon_smg1 – Spawns SMG
weapon_357 – Spawns Revolver
weapon_annabelle – Spawns Father Grigori’s Shotgun called Annabelle.

If you want to fill your ammunition on the weapon you are currently holding, type command “give currentammo”

Point of view

Copy the command, paste in console and rename [name] for following characters

first – default type of view
third – third person

Alyx Gun Cheat

Copy the command, paste and paste in console.
By this command we can get gun, that Alyx Uses
If we already paste that command in console, we need to type this command:

which is spawning combine soldier. We need to kill him and grab the Alyx Gun. The model looks like a big black box because it wasn’t designed to be used by the player. It also has no gun sounds and you’ll only hear the bullets hitting surface.

Super Gravity Gun cheat

You can obtain the super gravity gun by typing “physcannon_mega_enabled 1” in the console.

Maps / Changing Chapters

Copy the command, paste in console and rename [name] to following characters.
By this command we can change map, so chapter of the game same.

You can unlock all of the chapters by typing in the console this simple command: sv_unlockedchapters 15

Developer Commands

By these commands we can see triggers and other things useful for map developers. You can also use it to find the area that activates an event upon entering it etc.
Wire frame models: mat_wireframe1
Only objects effected by physics are wireframe: vcollide_wireframe 1
Draw game triggers: showtriggers_toggle
Draw normal maps: mat_normalmaps 1
Draw surface materials: mat_normals 1
Turn off bump mapping: mat_fastnobump 0
impulse 200: removes weapon model from the screen

Other Cheats

viewmodel_fov[number] – changing our weapon field of view on screen.
fov_desired – changing our main field of view

Take no damage: god
Take damage but stay at 1hp: buddha
Hide the HUD (health bars etc.): cl_drawhud 0
Show the HUD again: cl_drawhud 1
Infinite power for your suit: infinite_aux_power or sv_infinite_aux_power (Outbreak)
All weapons and ammo: impulse 101
Enemies don’t attack: notarget
Fly through walls: noclip
Spawn skulls props: impulse 102

Getting Achviements by using Cheat Commands

At beginning of guide, i said we can’t get achviements. But…

For example we want to get achviement with airboat.

1. Spawn Airboat (ch_createairboat)
2. Save the game
3. In menu, write in console “sv_cheats 0”
4. Load the save
