Overview
–This guide is still being updated after the 0.5 update–This is a more advanced guide for speeding through Mackerels and Geckos. Want 5 million credits in 5 minutes? 3 million credits in less than 1 minute? Clear your debt faster than ever??? YESS!! This Guide is for you!
Introduction
Let me begin by saying I enjoy playing fast, hard, and dirty. I’ll destroy anything in my way to get what I want. What I want is the most valuable items on the ship and the fastest accumulation of work orders (WO) I can manage.
If that’s what you want, please read on and comment. I’m always looking to improve and I’m sure many of you have great suggestions.
IF YOU’RE OCD IN YOUR SHIP BREAKING STOP READING NOW! I’M NOT LIABLE FOR ANY MENTAL TRAUMA YOU MAY INCUR FORTHWITH!
The following strategies are how I personally go about breaking ships. Don’t feel as though you need to follow my paths 100% to achieve similar results. If you’re reading this you’re probably looking for faster paths to success so you likely know what parts are what without pictures, but I’m including them with useless red circles just in case.
I use the split-saw exclusively, so anywhere that needs to be sliced or cut use the split-saw. Why? After pulling the trigger the split-saw can be re-positioned for your next cut without consequence, it rarely overheats, and it goes -BRRRZZZZTT-.
Edit: Now with video walkthroughs!
Mackerel General Outline
Mackerel:
Mackerels are more or less the same in how to pull them apart.
Enter the vessel and cut out the floor and ceiling
Cut the crawl space free from the cabin, being sure to disconnect any nacelles, airlocks, fuel cans, coolant, storage bigs, or anything else of bargeable value.
With all that nanocarbon cut free and sent to the processor you can now dunk the remaining mass, head back to the HAB 3-6m richer and 500~LT closer to the next upgrade.
Note: Heavy cargo Macks have asteroids inside, be sure to send those to the furnace as well.
Gecko Salvage Runner
Currently there’s an issue with depressurization. Just avoid Salvage runners for the time being.
Gecko Quick and Profitable
Gecko:
The quick process for all the geckos is pretty much the same.
After entering cut all cut points holding all the nanocarbon to the cabin section(s)
All nanocarbon should be sent to the processors from here excluding the the 3 large aft sections and the nose panels connected to the cockpit. There are many ways to do it but to release the cockpit nanocarbon you will have to pull the two top foreward most storage bins in the cockpit.
Sometimes the the computers in orange can get in the way so removing them may help. The nose cone can then be safely sent to the processor as well.
With the nanocarbon out of the way the gecko cabin can be safely dunked to safely reach level 5 salvage. Here is the way I like to dunk
but you should experiment and figure out how you enjoy best.
Congrats you are now 9-12m richer with 3-5k more LT.
A video:
Javelins
Javelins:
Pretty much the same thing as Macks and Geckos. Tear off all the nanocarbon, the cage structure free from the aft and fore sections. Send the cage to the processor and dunk everything else.
6-12m richer and LT depend on which Jav you did.
Walkthroughs
I’m aiming to keep videos udated if there’s any major changes with more to come.
