Overview
This is a video walkthrough of HassleHeart v1.0.0 by Santa Clara Games.
Overview
The objective of each level is to obtain a certain score to unlock the next level. You control a robot with a depleting battery. The level ends when the robot runs out of energy. To stay alive, swap out your battery with a human heart. The heart then becomes your new battery. Continue swapping hearts before each one runs out.
Gameplay
A “?” box contains a random distraction item. Each distraction item lures one type of human (eg cell phone will lure a geek). Touch it to pick it up and then use the attack key to drop it. Move away from the item and a passerby will indicate he/she is interested with a cloud above their head. Move in for the kill. The initial attack will produce their heart, which will have a number next to it to indicate the amount of energy seconds it will contain. You will also get this many points added to your score. Continue to attack the person to gain additional points and a combo bonus.
Tips and Tricks
- Your initial battery remains available (on the ground) to be swapped so at the beginning of the level, try to get a heart as quickly as possible so you will have a bigger reserve battery. Then when you are about to die, take the battery until you can get the next heart.
- Different types of humans have better hearts than others. A fit jogger may have a 30-35 second one, while a junkie may only have 10-15.
- When a heart is swapped, it is destroyed so do not swap a heart with lesser energy then what you already have.
- The old lady is lured with a slot machine (small probability of obtaining) and her heart will give an additional energy bonus rather than a swap.
- Don’t walk too close to people or they will become irritated “!” above their head (warning) and then attack you (red “!”), which will stop your movement for a couple of seconds.
- Water puddles are environmental hazards, which will stun you. Try not to touch the water.
Controller Support
I was able to get my PS2 controller to work using AntiMicro [github.com] which is a Free, open source program that maps controller to the keyboard keys. It even has a configurable turbo option to rapidly fire while the button is held down.
