ORIGINS
The Hau’Tne was one of the many tribes on Kar’Uk, contending with others for food until one day they thought “we all have a common goal so shouldn’t we stop killing eachother with pointy sticks and unite?” and with almost global unity they advanced technology much quicker than other species (this idea totally wasn’t taken from a warhammer faction, turn your eyes away, shhh)
THE CASTES
The Hau’Tne utilize a Caste system to maintain order and are as follows
Au’Hl
the highest of society, the Au’Hl are the ones that rule and pull the strings. The Au’Hl also receive military training and can participate in wars.
Hak’An
The soldiers of the Hau’Tne, they are trained from age 12 and receive genetic augmentation at 14. One Hak’An can take down a tank platoon. They are also trained in 0G environments.
Kay’O
The artisans and merchants of the Hau’Tne, these guys aren’t really special to be honest so I am skipping over them.
Sha’N
The smart dudes, these guys are complete nerds and do some funky science stuff.
Jha’Ral
The outcasts, don’t really do anything other than make some boppin’ music, oh wait that’s outkast, my bad.
THE AUDENTI MACHINA
Ancient Ancestors of every human race in the milky way, the Audenti Machina is a machine cult focused around an eons old (but still functioning) superluminary radio tuned into the Andromeda galaxy, waiting for a confirmation from the precursors, the species THEY originated from, that they are still alive.
The Audenti Machina was first found by the Hau’Tne on a barren planet worshipping a large sigil of some kind. They shot at the Hau’Tne at first sight and refused to negotiate, choosing instead to wage war on them.
The war started out rough for the Hau’Tne, the cult had eons to advance while the Hau’Tne only had 1.4 thousand years, their future looked bleak.
After 3 years of the war the Hau’Tne finally gave some competition, they started to adapt quickly but still had a rough time duking it out with the Audenti Machina.
After 10 long years and many men lost from both sides, the war stopped. The Audenti Machina went into hiding, presumed disbanded.
CORRUPTION
At an unknown time an unknown, most likely extradimensional, being killed and replaced one of the main Au’Hl and started to corrupt the others to believe that the only way to unity is through genocide, very few outside of the Au’Hl know about this, and the few are sentenced to death for blasphemy and treason.
THE BETRAYED
The betrayed is a group that split off from the Hau’Tne after realizing what the Au’Hl were up to and ditched the traditional color scheme of black and red and instead going for unpainted metal and yellow. The Betrayed are rarely seen, and when they are they stir up the hive, destroying important military assets. The Au’Hl cover the true motives of The Betrayed by saying they have gone mad because of the Michelangelos.
THE MICHELANGELOS
A teleportation prototype gone wrong introduced michelangelos into the world, these little buggers appear as stone busts at first but left unchecked grow into large blobs of biomass that can produce eggs to make drones (shown below)
Michelangelos were going to take over the entire continent of Ur’Gath but the Hau’Tne held them back long enough to evacuate everyone and completely decimate the continent. After 10 years of no signs of michelangelos a large blob emerged from the central crater, The Hau’Tne decided that that place is doomed so they terraformed about a quarter of the planet into an acidic wasteland, using superstructures to keep the climate in check.
REALITY…
While experimenting with teleportation the Sha’N had a large breakthrough, there were thousands, millions, possibly even endless amounts of realities, and they were shocked to see that humanity and its subspecies were only really important in their reality and that in most of the others humanity hasn’t even entered the space age yet.
…COLLAPSES
After the breakthrough they realized that their reality was collapsing and causing technology to devolve, forces that could decimate systems could now only take out maybe a country at most, they needed to either fix this or skip town, almost everyone agreed on the latter and overloaded an artificial wormhole to the nearest and most habitable reality. Those who disagreed or were too late were never seen or heard from again.
POST-COLLAPSE
After the collapse the Hau’Tne remnants were stranded across the milky way in 28 known starsystems. Many evac shuttles went missing and are presumed to be outside of the galaxy. No Betrayed or Audenti Machina appearances have been confirmed though there were unidentified lifeforms did enter the rift.
SIDE-EFFECTS OF THE COLLAPSE
Many side effects started showing after the collapse, the most common of which being slower aging, the deadliest of which is “corrosion”, which alters your body in horrid ways. There is no known cure for the corrosion but there is a very slim chance for it to pass, halting any spread but wont heal. This has happened to one of the field marshals, Saz’Tol, who has an entire arm corroded.
RECONSTRUCTION
Already scattered about multiple star systems the Hau’Tne were already off to a head start in this reality, quickly conquering 37 systems in only 40 years. With this head start they started to re-invent past technology and enslave conscript other species into their ranks and had repopulation camps strewn about the conquered systems. Even with the head start it would take about 2000 years to return the broken empire to its former glory, or at worst just to get a single dyson sphere operational
CONSCRIPTED RACES
there are currently 3 known conscripted races
nar-kal – the nar-kal are humanoids similar in appearance to insects that have chitin armor and red, crystal-like pustules across their body. Their origins are classified and soldiers with prolonged contact with them report feeling dread.
u’ghar – u’ghar are small, amphibious humanoids with an exceptional memory and are usually tasked with maintenance or reconnaissance
