Homeworld change tutorial for Spore

Homeworld change tutorial

Overview

Have you ever wanted to create an empire which it has homeworld as close to the center of galaxy as possible (aka. second Grox Empire) or at very end of one of galactic arms? With this tutorial it’s possible and you won’t have to worry about corrupted saves, if you are going to do as there’s written in this guide.

Preparations

Here’s what you need before you start to move your homeworld:

-A brand new empire
-AToAP Infinity mod

And… that’s all basically XD

The Guide

At this case we’re going to move our homeworld as close to center of galaxy as possible.

(DO NOT CONQUER / COLONISE OTHER PLANETS UNTIL YOU REACH TO STEP 4)

  • 1.Install AToAP Infinity mod
  • 2.Start new game and fly to the closest system to galactic Core (it will be easier if you install mod wiping out Grox (or at least reducing their empire size to 1 system) before creating a new galaxy)
  • 2b. (Optional). If you want to have a new homeworld with 10 cities, you must do the following things:

-If there’s The Grox, kill them.
-This mustn’t be the “oceanic” nor “square” planet
-Terraform planet to T3 and fill all niches.
-Place monolith and wait until new civilisation reached to Space Stage.

  • 3. Colonise (or conquer, if you created a civilisation there, the best tool for it is Fanatical Frenzy) the system which is the closest one to Galactic Core (where Grox Homeworld normally is)
  • 4. Return to old homeworld and destroy it with Planet Buster

(WARNING!! DO NOT SAVE GAME UNTIL YOU PASS THE 5 AND 6 STEPS, OTHERWISE YOUR SAVE WILL BE PERMANENTELY BROKEN)

  • 5. Fly to new home system
  • 6. Fly to new homeworld, open cheat console by pressing Control + Shift + C and change its name by typing “rename planet (your old homeworld name)” code. Don’t worry, you won’t get Joker badge for that.
  • 6b. To make sure that your save won’t get unplayable, you might need to do something which modifies your universe (eg. painting planets, terraforming, colonising, etc)

Why we need to change new homeworld’s name?

Because if you destroy your old homeworld and you don’t change the name of new one with that destroyed one’s name, the game will create a new save file, but under the new planet’s name. If you’ll load it, there will be conflict with data, that’s why it gets glitched.

If you tried to change the name of planet where there’s already save, you’ll receive an error message in console. Saved planets’ names cannot be changed, otherwise they will be glitchy and unplayable so think twice on picking its name before starting new game.

Known issues

– The Date on save where homeworld change has happened may be glitchy (it’s easy to fix that, simply by saving again)

-The game may crash if you cancel mission taken before homeworld change
