How I Got up to That One RV on Top of Caravan Island (and/or What’s Inside It)

Overview

This guide will show you how you can either get to the top of the highest RV/trailer on Caravan Island, or at least tell you what spawns inside of it so you can stop worrying about it.

My Master Plan

Let me preface this by saying, yes, I have OCD, and yes, spoiler alert: this was completely unnecessary and a waste of time, BUT, in my defense, I knew from the Cruise Ship and even from Balboa Island that the devs were sneaky and hid some really useful crates on top of certain story places. (the very top of the Cruise Ship and the tops of 2 of the radio towers on Balboa)
I also knew there would not be any notes up there because I had already gotten my achievement for finding all of the Caravan Island notes before even attempting this little treasure hunt.

Since I had no preparation for this on my single-player save on Normal difficulty (the furthest I had gotten to before was Balboa Island, yes I’m behind, shush) I decided to create a peaceful save so that I could save all of my wood I spent on fighting off the shark and repairing on, you guessed it, building my way up to the top of Caravan island from my raft all the way down in the ocean
And no, before anyone comments, there is absolutely no way to get up to this trailer without using your raft, the tree closest to this RV has no physical collision on the branches, only on the trunk of the tree. There’s no ladders on the other RV’s and there’s only one spot in the area that is at height-level with the top of the pileup, but it is so far away that jumping to it is not even feasible.
I had to replay through the entire story up until Caravan Island, sparing as much wood as possible so I’d have enough to build a whole Eiffel Tower up to the top of that RV pile. Once I made it to Caravan Island, I had to circle my raft to the water just below the RV I was trying to get to, luckily there are 3 inlets to the center tower in this story island, and the RV at the very top is facing one side of the inlet.
Once my raft was parked right beneath the open half of the RV (luckily they didn’t have it closed off) it just came down to getting enough wood and nails. I used the Raised Floors with ladders (fun fact you can actually just put a ladder on every other floor because you jump high enough to get to the next one, wish I’d known that before I was almost done building my tower). Overall it took about 20 raised floors, which means 10 or 11 ladders if you alternate them like a smart person. Once I got to about height level with the ground the RV’s are stacked on, I realized I would be a little off to the right so I just switched to the wood roofs that you can use like stairs, and added regular floors when I needed to make a sharp turn.
(Overall total of items required: Approx. 148 wood and 20 nails.)
Now, the results? I was utterly shocked. There was only 1 drawer that had an item in it that I had seen from a distance on my normal playthrough, and once I picked it up: Leftovers. Yep, the least helpful piece of food in the game that even the devs gave the description of: “This meal did not turn out very well.”
Needless to say I was disappointed and yet unsurprised, but I can at least sleep better knowing exactly what spawns in this elusive trailer, and that it’s not a giant chest with helpful stuff that I missed out on.
