Overview
This guide will explain how the detection system of BRAIN/OUT works
Introduction
Welcome! This is a guide that explains how the Detection System works in BRAIN / OUT. If you have any suggestions or corrections, please message Protodax or Talavok or put a comment.
Before we start, you will need to know the game’s meaning of “Line of Sight”. The game defines the term as when the eyes of a player’s model can see any part of another player’s model.
In addition, after a player has become visible via line of sight or weapon fire they will stay visible for about three seconds after line of sight is broken or weapon fire has stopped.
If a player is invisible and firing a suppressed weapon, you can still see the bullet casings being ejected along with tracers.
There are three scenarios in the Detection System:
- Both players are standing
- One player is standing and the other is crouching
- Both are crouching
We will be explaining the meaning of these three scenarios in this guide.
Scenario 1: Both Players Standing
In this scenario, both players are standing and visibility is determine through line of sight. The second one player has line of sight on the other, both will become visible to each other. After line of sight is broken, you will remain visible for around three seconds where you will then become invisible provided you do not fire an unsurpressed weapon.
Scenario 2: One player is standing and the other is crouching
This scenario will be broken up into two parts:
- Player that is standing is looking away and the other is crouching
- Player that is standing is looking towards and the other is crouching
When the player that is crouching has line of sight on the other, the player that is standing will be unable to see the crouching player. This is because crouching allows players to stay invisible even if line of sight has been achieved. They will become visible when they stand, fire an unsurpressed weapon, or the standing player or another player looks at them.
This functions the same as Scenario 1. As long as one player has line of sight on the other, both will become visible.
Scenario 3: Both players are crouching
This scenario functions the same way as scenario 2. If a player has their back turned to the other then they can’t see the other player but once they turn they can see that player.
Conclusion
That concludes this guide about the Detection system. We hope that this helped you understand one of BRAIN / OUT’s most unique features.
