How to actually enjoy the game

Treat the game as it's own thing, the characters from the original series are them in name only and completely different characters. Don't expect much from the plot or expect Dante to start doing the yoinky sploinky with a funny cowboy hat and just try to enjoy it for the silly little thing it is

This game doesn't have a lock on, and it's actually not as bad as it sounds. Sometimes you'll hit the wrong enemy but overall I don't think it's a terrible change. Your default weapon is Rebellion and you switch weapons by holding RT and LT respectively. IMO, this is a great change from the OG series and saves you the trouble of scrolling through weapons to find which ones you want.
