How to add your own sounds into your level for POSTAL 2

How to add your own sounds into your level

Overview

Since it took me all day and night yesterday (about 12 hours ) messing with all sorts of tutorials and forum posts I want to share my knowledge on how to add your own sounds into your level and save you lots of troubles. This probably will help you and save you lots of time if you want to add your own sound into your level and you don’t know how to do it. How in fact do you add your own sound wave into your map / level in the POSTALeditor ? The easiest and only way I have found out is to do the following : 1. open up your sound files browser in the postal editor(POSTed)2. import your sound file making your own sound category ( Mine was Dudechat and my sub category was nothing and my sound file was named “dud_surprise” ) then click ok to all. Now you should see your new category listed with the other lists of sounds.3. save your sound package by pressing the little floppy icon in the sound files browswer window to make your own sound package. Save it into your main POSTALeditor folder where your Maps folder, Shell folder and your System folder is.4.When you add sound to your trigger properties you use a new path. Mine was Sound’Dudechat.dud_surprise’. The easiest way to not put in the path is to have your new sound highlighted / selected in the sound file browswer and then just click on the tiny use button in the sound properties of your trigger.5. build your level / map after you have placed and made all your settings and save the whole map / level whatever name but it has to start with WS-yourlevelname for everyone to download it from the workshop. example: mine was named: WS-PostalTrickORTreat46. upload 3 things to the steam workshop: .f uk file(map / level file), screenshot .jpg file and your new .uax file (sound package)There done ! **Make sure you do not crash your editor somehow or go opening up some other level as you do this because for me when I exited out of the editor even after saving I lost all my sound property settings as well as my newly imported sound wave file ! I then had to repeat this whole procedure losing many hours of setting sound property settings on all my door triggers. So make sure you do all this without closing your level your working on or else you will lose your newly imported sound file and all your settings you used with it.

>>> IMPORTANT <<<

Make sure you do not crash your editor somehow or close the editor. Even after saving I lost all my sound property settings as well as my newly imported sound wave file ! I then had to repeat this whole procedure losing many hours of setting sound property settings on all my door triggers. So make sure you do all this without closing your level your working on or else you will lose your newly imported sound file and all your settings you used with it. In other words using this method you have to make your level with the POSTed program on all the time. If you close it you lose all your settings from your new added sounds as well as your new packages. After restarting the program however you can reimport all your saved packages you made but then you have to add all those sound settings to your triggers all over again !
