Overview
Today i will show you how to master the best all rounder mech in Super Mech Champions
Introduction
Heya, my name is Meisses. I main Doomlight in SMC. I may not be the best at it but i do spent a decent amount of hour on this mech. This is by far the most interesting mech I have ever played, due to having deployable abilities.
Doomlight is a very versatile mech, meaning to say he can play a role as a Tank, DPS, and Support. This is a very good starter mech for everyone because you wont die quickly while being able to deal quite the damage. The only downside is probably mobility, which can be dealt with tech modifications.
ABILITIES
Photon Cannon ( Primary Weapon [Left Click] )
your primary attack which shoots 3 laser bolts in 1 click. Deals around 140 damage on mech per bolt and contains 30 rounds in 1 magazine ( Meaning to say you will shoot 10 times before reloading ). This will be your main damage dealing weapon, not the turrets. You can also shoot it through your own shield. Surprisingly it is an area attack, meaning to say it deals splash damage. Good for killing pilots out of their mechs if you have crappy accuracy.
Set Photon Turret ( Secondary Weapon [Right Click] )
Shoots a deployable turret from your back that will auto attack enemies near them, dealing around 60 damage per hit. Hold right click to aim where you want to deploy (don’t worry it has a trajectory line so you know where the turret will drop). You can deploy up to 3 turrets at a time. If you deploy another one, the 1st turret will be destroyed, so on and so on. Turrets will last even when you de-mech (get out of your mech). If your mech got destroyed, your turrets will all be destroyed. Use this to harrass enemy from a distance and also as a defensive structure against pushing mechs.
Rocket Propulsion ( Jump Ability [Press or Hold Spacebar] )
This is your jump ability. It is basically a jetpack when you hold spacebar. Uses fuel everytime you jump or fly using it. Use it to travel towards hard-to-reach places such as buildings and hill peaks.
Photon Shield ( Tactical Ability [Press Q] )
Your bread and butter, the photon shield deploys a shield which blocks any incoming damage from both front end and back end while allowing you and your allies to shoot through it. Very short cooldown and spamable, use it before attacking enemies and hide behind structures during the cooldown.
Which Pilot to Choose ??
The best Current one for Doomlight is R.E.D due to the damage reduction per attack. Your character is an all rounder and your presence is necessary and game changing in the battlefield. Remember, you have to survive as long as possible so you can keep spamming those turrets and shields.
For Secondary pilot ability, pick between these:
My Personal Tech Builds
Build 1 (My main Build)
This build will help Doomlight deal a ton of primary weapon damage (Left Click Attack). Although the pic said that Doomlight have low survivability, that is where your Shield ( Q button ) comes in play. You will excel in all range thanks to your shield.
Build 2 (The “I like hurting, but i don’t like gettting hurt” Build)
Okay so you’re a wuss, you like staying behind your shield while doing the dirty work. It’s cool, i understand. We all want to win, and we have different methods to win. With this build, your will survive even longer while able to still spam your ability and doing decent amount of damage.
Build 3 (The Wall Build)
You know you’re slow AF and bound to be a punching bag. But as long as your teammate got your back, and your turrets and shield are still standing, you are bound to survive longer than your enemy. Might end up beaten and bruised but it’s fine. Because as long as you win, a couple of scratches and dents are nothing.
My Personal Module Build
BEAM ENHANCEMENT
Remember your turrets are not your primary weapon. Your turret’s role is to harrass the enemy. Imagine little mosquitoes around you. It is weak but it sure as hell annoying, so…. lets make it stronger. Remember do not rely on your turrets to do the dirty work. You yourself have to shoot the enemy.
TURRET REINFORCEMENT
We want the enemy to spend ammo on these turrets more than our mech. Imagine Arthur, Gabriel, and Hotsteel ; They really need to make every shot count right ? (Because of their low ammo count). Having a turret that does not go down easily in 1 hit is a powerful addition to your arsenal
DENSE SHIELD
Your shield is your bread and butter of the game. The more hits it can take, the more you can deal hits to the enemy. Thicc shields save lives baby !! (And take one too as well….)
SCATTERBEAM (Core Module I)
Imagine having your turret behind you auto attacking enemy mechs that are 60 meter near you. Now you don’t have to worry about those pesky Hurricane or Andromeda players juking around. I prefer Scatterbeam (Core Moudle I) rather than Photon Wall (Core Module II), because of how easy it is to disable photon wall. Let me get you into this secret ladies and gents…. to counter Core Module II, all you have to do is… get this !!! Destroy turrets that are near another turret !! (Make sure there are no more than 1 turret that stands near each other)
Basic Technique and Playstyle
TURRET PLACEMENT
Close Quarter Combat
Most new players i see love to place their turret randomly in the open, just waiting to be put down by Firefox or Hurricane. When enemies are pushing you, be sure to put your shield up and put your turrets behind the shield, then you can start shooting the hell out of them all.
Social Distancing
The further your turrets are from each other, the better. Not only will this confuse the enemy due to shots coming from every directions, but also this prevents AoE (Area of Effect) attacks from destroying 2 or 3 of your turrets in the same time. You do not want Caramel or Hotsteel to 1 hit 3 of your turrets at the same time and then focusing their attacks on you now do you ?
COMBAT STRATEGIES
Shield Dance (Extreme Close Quarter Combat Technique)
Now you’ve done it !! the enemy pushed in too close and they are probably 5 meter from you, your turrets still recharging and your allies are focusing on some random bots !!! Thank God your shield is there !! To “perform” shield dance, move on a perpendicular direction on your shield. while attacking your enemy. your enemy too will pretty much move like that but guess what !! Your attacks goes through your shield but blocks the enemy’s !! by the time the shield is broken or went down, the enemy would probably have lost 60% of their Durability while you manage to save more than half of your mech’s Durability !!
Vertical Flight
This is really good to use against hard hitters like Arthur and Hotsteel because of their slow bullet travel. I recommend saving this for crucial dodge, such as avoding Ventorez’s Gale ball or Skylark’s Hunt. Do not use this to escape on a vertical direction, but instead horiziontal. Climb up on a hill or building to escape danger
Combo 1 (Shield -> Exit Mech -> Anti-Mech Attacks and Shield Dance -> Profit)
Even without a mech, you can still deliver hell. First, when an enemy is near you, deploy your shield. Then get out of your mech and attack them with anti-mech weaponary (Hydra Missile Preferred) while doing Shield Dance. Beware this is very risky if you do not have a building to run into or any allies around you.
Conclusion
If you like winning, choose Doomlight !! This is the mech for every situation. It is not hard to master and sure as hell, a very annoying mech to fight against. Just remember, watch your surrounding, know your escape route and how much fuel you have left. This is Meisses, signing out !!
