Overview
How to be the team player and improve your overall skill! This guide will tell you tips possibly tricks to just become better at the game, hopefully by the end of this guide you will be the person that knows what they are doing. 😀
Introduction
Hello I am TCBC or TheColourBlindCuber, and I will try my best to talk to you about being the “pro” gamer that you either want to be or think you are. I am not at all implying that I am the best at the game, no where near that; however, I do know how to play, right from wrong and most importantly how to act.
I am sure there has been times where you were angry at your teammates because they did something wrong and caused you die, or lose the match. Yes everyone has the moments where you feel like you need to say (or type :P) every possible swear word known to man and then some because a mega decided it would be funny to drive off a bridge, or the medics to run off by themselves (or any other reason). I will try to put you in the shoes of all those types of people.
I will also be telling you simple little tricks to how to build a robot, I am not very good at building myself but I know that one thing is better than another and I can build good robots. Things like tri-forceing, weight reduction, Electroplates, and gun placement will be talked about in this guide.
Bad habits are what they are, bad habits… I will tell you some good habits to get you into, these good habits will aid your team and yourself some of them even give you RP. 😀
This guide will be changed and added to often, also there might also be multiple people adding things to it at once. So some of you may want to stop by every once and a while to get up-to-date information 🙂
If you ever need Robocraft help at a spiffy speed add me on steam TCBC or add me in Robocraft TheColourBlindCuber yes with a “u”.
Understanding other players
You may be asking youself “Why start the guide like this?”. One thing to help you understand your team will be to understand the other people playing the game. They are important to your success, it is very hard to win a game by yourself in fact impossible, you need a team. This next information might come as a shocker but I am going to make sure you understand…
There are things you need to place in your mind when playing a multiplayer game, and before you start slamming on that keyboard here is a list of things you should watch out for and how to deal with them.
- Trolls- Everyone knows that trolls are a problem, and this is how you deal with them… Don’t, ignore what they say because they are only there to make other people angry, they think they are on top of the world and they can do anything they want on the internet only if they get to you. “But TCBC! What about the trolls that block my path or the ones that capture you in a cage!” They are not always trolls, give them a laugh enjoy yourself for a little bit. After a little bit ask if you could be let go, and if they continue worst comes to worst report them on Robocraftgame.com with a screenshot for evidence (make sure the chat is open as well)
- Drama queens/kings- simple, stay out of it, pretend they don’t exist. Id hate to say it but I am quite sure 90% of them just want attention and should realize nobody cares if you ignore them. I don’t see this much but I do see people get in robocraft’s global chat and talk about how sad they are because their dog died.
- “dumb” megas- just tell them what they did wrong and if they did wrong respectfully, for example: “you shouldn’t have charged out like that, you exposed our medics.” If they retaliate ignore them, you will soon see a quick way to deal with most players involves pretending they are not there.
- “dumb” medics- I will talk about why being a medic is a hard job, for the most part it is not their fault, and if it is their fault do the same thing you did with the mega, RESPECTFULLY.
- I will add more to this list in time, if you come up with another person please tell me!
I am going to put you in a medics shoes for a second…
*Imagine this, you enter a game you are the only medic you calmly ask at the beginning of the game if protection could be provided, when you get into the fight team-mates are loseing parts left and right. Unfortunately you cannot heal them all, one of your team-mates dies, he then yells at you in the chat because you didn’t heal him, but you had 8 other people to heal at the same time. You get shot from the sky because of a bomber, you eventually lose all your guns and die, the team then begins to blame the loss on you because “You suck”* How fair does that sound? If you have more than a few brain cells you would most likely answer “poor medic” or “not fair at all”. That would be because it is not fair, think about the number of people the medic has to keep alive at once, and you may be a good medic and you are able to do that most of the time. Not everyone can, refer to the 5th line in this section for more details about “your importance”.
Here is another one.
*You just finished building your Mk-3 of your mega bot, you are quite proud of it and you did your best. While you do know it is not the best design you think it will do ok, you wait a couple minutes to get into a game to get swormed with your team telling you how poor your robot is, it is especially bad when you look around and see they are not using great bots themselves, you either press on or get frustrated and leave the game. You wait another minute or two to get in yet another game, this time you don’t get swarmed by the team… that is until people start to realize they might lose. It is not your fault honestly It could be somewhat, but the blame should not be put on anyone but the entire team… You then get back in your bay and decide megabots are not for you and you feel like you wasted your time getting the RP and time playing.* Yes I have seen this happen before, I had a friend that was so excited while she was building a mega, spent a ton of RP, spent multiple days trying to get one built, she finally completed it and after three games, she took the mega apart because people were so rude.
Always think before you say or do something, always try to help someone instead of insult them, insulting them does not make them better, or you for that matter. Insulting them only makes you look dumb, and it could make them look dumb if they retaliate, doesn’t matter how old you are, act mature…
One more thing
Positive Habbits
Hello I will be swift here because I shoudln’t have to talk a lot for this one. I will just give you a list of things you should try to do.
- Mark people with Q, it helps the team know where people are, no not all players pay attention some of them do. So do it for the people that do pay attention, and holding Q down so it continues to beep on the other players end is not fun, don’t do that (trolls).
- Ping commands. By default pressing Ctrl will allow you to activate the on screen commands, try not to spam these and only use them when you know you have to. Try to get into the habbit of just using one at a time, you never know when you might need another.
- Yelling medic is not enough if they are far away or out of your reach, if you are right behind them it is ok but if you are far away tell them your cords by pressing the M key and looking at the map like battle ship.
- Try not to run away, or abandon your team, they could always use another gun, and if the team trails off in every direction follow the largest group or the strongest link. It is good to have one strong link then a few weak ones.
- If you are a flying craft do not fly high and proud, hide and fly where you can pop out, shoot and hide. You will live longer trust me….
- Get into the habbit of thinking of the unthinkable, be ready for anything… Press M to make your map bigger to get used to looking at it for your surroundings… *What is that? Tesla behind you!? THANKS MAP!*
