How To Become Pro At Taking Screenshots

Overview

This guide will show you how to take professional screenshots in Primal Carnage: Extinction. Please gib credit to my bff Noxxy (also known as Lucifer and a few other nicknames) for giving me all this information! <3

Basics

Do you ever see those fancy screenshots that other players post? You wish you could do that too?

First, open Primal Carnage: Extinction. Host a server. Make sure you add an admin password and choose any map you like (Recommended: natural areas, like forests, swamps, snowy biomes, etc). Now play in your server, and select any dino or human you want. As an example, we will be playing as a dino. Choose any skin for your dino too, and play. And now you’re a dinosaur.

Next, press F7 on your keyboard and type in

AdminLogin *your admin password*

You should become admin now. And then, type in

Admin Enablecheats

Finally, type in

Setbind K Playersonly

You can choose any letter you want, except the important letters like W, A, S, E, D, F, G. I am using K. Whenever you press your setbinded letter, everything around you should freeze. Water and lava won’t freeze, but things like leaves, snowflakes, sparks, and dust should become still. Only you can move. You have reached the “playersonly mode”.

Now, this is the fun part. Open F7 again and type in

Setbind J Admin Tranqme 999

This is the current kill command. I am also using J for this. Okay NOW. You have setbinded your selected keys to the right command. Try pressing your playersonly key, the key you have setbinded to the playersonly command. If you click it multiple times, playersonly will be turned on and off. Keep it on for now. To check if it’s on, watch your stamina bar. If you are running and the stamina is decreasing, that means playersonly is OFF. If the stamina stays the same, that means it is ON. (The best way is to click left click. If you do NOT move to bite, then playersonly is ON.)

Now, with playersonly on, press G for a taunt. As your dino is moving, click your kill key whenever you want. Your dino should die, but the body is frozen in that position. You did it! Now go to spectator mode and observe the dino. Click F8 for your tabs to disappear. Now angle your camera right, and press F12 for pictures. You’re taking screenshots! You don’t HAVE to do a taunt for this. You could be roaring, walking, running and it would still look good. (Remember to disable playersonly for everything to reset. Your dino should drop dead and the body will disappear.)

FoV

But, something’s not right. It doesn’t look as fancy as everyone else’s. Try opening F7 and typing in

Fov 20

I like using Fov 30. Woah! Now your spectator camera is very zoomed in. This can make you sick, but it’s usually worth it. Using a very low Field of View (Fov) is HIGHLY recommended for taking good screenshots. Angle your camera right, and take more pictures. MUCH BETTER!
(Hint: Take multiple pictures from multiple angles and upload the best one. Taking multiple pictures will give you an idea of which angle is better. If you run into a solid object while you’re angling the picture, try typing in “Admin Ghost”. This usually helps.)

Using Fov can turn your pictures from this:

To this:

Taunts

Doesn’t seem like a big difference, but it is. Taunts help a lot too. This is an example of using a taunt in a picture:

Multiple Dinos

But we’re not done yet. If you want MULTIPLE dinos in your picture, you can do this. While still spectating your dead dino, switch class and select whatever you want. (You can change skins and taunts too). Set your Fov to 90 for it to be normal. Now go next to your previous dino, and DON’T click playersonly again! That will delete what you have done. You can use taunts again, and now press your kill key. Now you have TWO dead dinos in your game. Spectate, angle it right, and snap pictures with your Fov at 30 or 20. Now you have something like this example:

Lighting

The lighting in a picture is very important. If you are looking for a creepy picture, go stand near a light source. Take the picture so that the light source is IN FRONT of you, but BEHIND the dino. That side of the dino should look dark, but you can see the light behind it. Something like this:
The light source is BEHIND the oviraptor, so it doesn’t shine light on the other side.
Lighting matters a lot. You can find a yellow, green, or red light and make something out of that. This picture shows the side that the light hits:
The light glows on the dino because the light source is pointing TOWARDS IT. Understand?

Using different colored lights help a lot too. Here are examples of using a green light:

This is an example of using a red light:
And this is an example of using a yellow light:
Sometimes you can capture both sides of the light. One side is lit, the other side is dark:
If you don’t pay attention to lighting, your picture could look simple or average. Now, you can choose to have an average lighting picture. That’s fine. I’ve done it before too. But if you ever wanted to spice it up, look for some good lighting. (If you are looking for a red light, there is one in PC-Contingency. Just head into the Airlock, and go straight. Turn right and go down the stairs. Now turn left. There should be water on the floor and a red light. You can take some good pictures there:)

Maps That Don’t Allow Spectator

You NEED to use spectator mode if you want to take good, professional pictures. If you wish to be spectator but can’t, (maps modes like GTTC and TDM do not allow spectator mode because they don’t allow switchteam) try this:

Spawn as your dino,

Go anywhere and press your playersonly key,

Then press your kill key.

Now you’re frozen. Then, spawn again as another dino. Remember which dino you were before, and type in:

Admin Avatar PCNovaraptorPlayerPawn

Type in the dino you were. I used novaraptor as an example. Others would be,

PCCarnotaurus
PCCompy
PCNovaraptor
PCSpinosaurus
PCTyrannosaurus
PCDilophosaurus
PCCryolophosaurus
PCPteradon
PCTupandactylus
PCOviraptor
PCAcro

If you have become your dead dino, you succeeded! Now you’re in spectator mode. You can use this in any map that doesn’t allow spectator. If there is an easter egg you would like to photograph in a map with no spectator, this allows you to do that. Maps like GTTC-Downpour have amazing easter eggs that you can take a picture of, but you’ll need to use this method.
(Remember to log in as admin for this to work.)

Subscribed Maps

Pretend you’ve subscribed to a map everyone is talking about. You’re excited to take some beautiful pictures in it. You get into the map and type in all the necessary commands for admin, but nothing works! You’re projectiles don’t spawn, you can’t die.. nothing admin-related works! Here’s how to fix it.

Let’s use PC-LostCity as an example.

First of all, to enter a subscribed map, you have to put in a special command. Go to main screen and click Multiplayer. Click Host. Then, click F7 and type in

Open PC-LostCity

Type in the map’s name. More examples are:

Open PC-TheAquariumResearchCenter
Open PC-DeadTide

Once you’re in, type in

Enablecheats

If you use AdminLogin, it won’t work. You didn’t get a chance to put in an admin pass, because it’s a subscribed map. Now instead of doing

Setbind K Admin Playersonly

Just don’t type “admin” in anywhere! It will work if you don’t use the word “admin” in your commands.

Setbind K Playersonly

This will work on any subscribed map. You will have to erase the word “admin” from all your setbinds though. You can add it back when you use a real map. Here is proof it works on subscribed maps:

(PC-LostCity)

(PC-TheAquariumResearchCenter)

(PC-DeadTide)

Fighting

Pretend you want two dinos to fight eachother. There are a few methods for this. You can use the kill key on one dino, and as it’s falling quickly enable playersonly. Now it’s on the floor, dead. Now, bring in another dino. Bring the dino’s mouth to the dead dino’s neck, and roar. (Try using CTRL for tyrants if you want a better view of the dino’s mouth.) Wait for the perfect moment, and quickly use the kill key. This could take a few tries. Now your dino looks like it is biting the dead dino’s neck!

Positions

(OPTIONAL. Recommended for slightly more advanced players). If you want a cool walking or trotting pose, try this. I’m using an acro as an example. Make sure playersonly is off. As you are walking, turn your head to one direction and bite. Quickly press your playersonly command, and then kill command. Do that before you are finished biting. You should get something like this: (Will take practice and a few tries).

Fire (Extra Tip)

If you want a unique and creative twist to your pictures, try these techniques. You can use fire, water, acid, tranq, fog and more. Let’s try fire first. If you ever wanted your dino walking out of a blazing inferno or roaring inside the pits of Hell, then open F7 and type in

Setbind L Admin Summon PrimalCarnageGame.PCProjMolotov

The molotov is just one of the many ways you can add an explosion of fire into your pic. I recommend molotov and impact grenade. They’ve both worked for me.

Setbind L Admin Summon PrimalCarnageGame.PCProjImpactGrenade

Once again, I use “L” for projectiles. You can use any key. OKAY NOW. You’ve setbinded your projectile to a key. Before you start blasting away, type in

AdminPlayerList

A list of players and numbers should appear. Locate your name and the number beside it. Type in

AdminSetHealth (Your number) 999999

You can set your health to any number, unless it’s too big. This will work WONDERS for any extreme picture. Now you have a bunch of health. (DO NOT USE “Admin God”! This will add a tiny symbol of a halo at the bottom left corner of your screen that will appear in your picture! For best results, use the “AdminSetHealth” command.) Find a nice area and blast away. Summon your projectiles! Make sure to hit your playersonly key to freeze the explosion. Now get inside the flame and do a taunt, roar, or whatever. Go to spectator, angle it perfectly, and snap a pic. With a little practice, you should get something like this:

Water (Extra Tip)

Using water is cool too. You can let your spino take a dip in the nearby river, let your rex drink some water from a stream, watch your spitters splashing around in the pond or anything. As an example, let’s bring your spino into the lake for it to take a dip. This is simple. Just do whatever you want near or in the water. Fight, splash, roar, taunt, leap into it, jump off a cliff into the lake, push your friend into the water, pretend to drown, see who can hold their breath for the longest. Anything. You can use swamp water or a tiny little pond too. Or rain.

Acid (Extra Tip)

Acid is simple too. It’s a tiny way to add creativity to your pics. Just become any dino and once again, type in

AdminSetHealth (Your number) 999999

And type in

Setbind L Admin Summon PrimalCarnageGame.PCProjSpitAcid or SpitBlind

You should get a tiny little fart of hazardous gas. It takes a while to spawn multiple farts because there’s some kind of cooldown. I’m not an expert at this, so I don’t have many pics of it. All I know is how to get that little fart. If you know how to get an explosion of it, please let me know in the comments.
But I figured out how to get these little purple orbs. Go in spectator and use SpitBlind. Then go as dino to that location. There should be these little orbs.
This is an example of using SpitAcid.

This is Lucifer’s picture. Gib her most of the credit for all dis info!

Tranq (Extra Tip)

Tranqing yourself is a GREAT way to add a creepy effect to your picture. It will make your dino look sick, infected, dizzy, whatever. (And if you roar as a raptor with tranq on, at one point your head will make a 180 degree turn!) To do this you type in

Admin Tranqme 90

90 is proper for a raptor. You can experiment with other numbers for tyrants, spitters, etc.
*TRANQ DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE* Please let me know if you found out a new way to use tranq.

Fog (Extra Tip)

Ah. Fog. It’s a great way to add to the spook or mystery effect. Just type in

FogDensity (Any number)

Just mess around until you get a density you like. The higher the number, the thicker the fog is.
I do not know the normal FogDensity number, but 0.03 was the closest I could get. You can use decimals too. Like 0.5 or 1.5. These are examples of using FogDensity in pictures:

Butterflies (Extra Tip)

Butterflies can add a cute effect. Just hit your playersonly key around some butterflies. They should freeze. I think this works with flies too.

Flares (Extra Tip)

If you wanna add a flare to your pic, find one in the maps. Spawning a flare will only blind you and give you no good picture. I recommend GTTC-PhantomCave for flares. There should be a few around the map. Just hit your playersonly key!

Lightning (Extra Tip)

If you want lightning in your picture, go to a map where it is storming. (Preferably, PC-AirBase.) NOW, wait for the lightning to appear. The sky should light up and you should spot lightning in different places in the sky. Quickly hit your playersonly key! You should’ve captured the lightning. You can bring in your dino or multiple dinos and do whatever. Using Fov can make your lightning appear big or small. Here are a few examples of using lightning in pictures:

Detail Recap

In case you missed some details, here they are:

Normal Fov- Your dino’s default field of view (In your settings, recommended 90)
Recommended Fov for Pictures- 20 or 30

Normal FogDensity- 0.03 (Close as possible)
Recommended FogDensity for Pictures- 0.2 or 0.3 (Depends on the map)

Done!

There’s probably more ways to add creativity. You can spawn cash money and even add wings to your raptor! But, those are secret ways. Shhh.. Explore! Use your OWN brain to find them. Thanks for reading our guide!
