Overview
A simple little guide, recommended for starters, on how to build a vehicle, place suspencion/wheels, configure them, and wire them up for EXTRA power.
Introduction
Well hello there. In this guide I will explain the basics of building a vehicle, and how to wire it all together.
Preperation and basic construction
First thing you should do is locate a suitable area for your vehicle. Any open area will usually suffice, however you can build it on the top of a mound, so that the wheels dont touch the ground during construction.
Place a jack or tower of blocks to start building on (A jack is easier, as you can remove it with just 1 click), then begin building the chassis ontop of that.
If you placed the cockpit first, you can now build the chassis around it. I myself like to extend it fowards slightly to increase vehicle stability.
Once that is done, begin placing your suspension. Try and make sure each side is the same, and that the suspension is orientated properly. As shown in the picture.
Once that’s done, you can place the wheels on the suspension. Make sure that they’re orientated correctly, with the stearing arrow either facing forwards or backwards.
Once all of this is done, you can then remove the jack from below to make sure the suspension is working. Now, let’s get onto wiring this up.
Wiring it all together with buildvision
Now, place the generators on the vehicle. Please remember you cant actually place blockls on the generators, other than the underside.
Please note, this is an old guide from when the only power source available was generators. Now, you can use batteries instead of them for these small vehicles
Note: Generators are powered on by default, like every block. You dont need to “power them on”. Only connect them
Now, if you haven’t done this before, make sure you configure wheels.
Enter buildvision by pressing TAB and modify the wheels by hovering over them with the crosshair.
Making it so the front ones turn in the correct direction (arrows foward) and that the ones on one side turn the same direction as the ones on the other side. If you adjust the speed of a wheel, make sure you do it to all of them.
Here are all the wheels configured:
Now, hover over the generator and select the option to connect it. Click that, then hover over a wheel and click the now only icon. Do this for all the wheels.
If you’ve placed more than one generator, you need to wire each generator to the wheel individually. More generators seem to boost wheel power.
Here is the vehicle fully wired up, with the 2 generators wired to each wheel.
If you’ve done all of this correctly, congratulations! You now have a functioning vehicle. You can exit buildvision by pressing TAB and enter the cockpit by pressing “E” when aiming at it.
Experiment with more wheels. You can make six wheelers, where the back wheels turn in the oposite direction to make it turn tighter. Make sure you leave a space between the wheels so they dont colide when they hit bumps.
Enjoy!
Tips and tricks
- The less weight, the faster the vehicle.
- If your vehicles very heavy on one end, you may want to set the suspension to “high preassure” in order to boost that end up. By default, suspenison is set to low preassure.
- At the time of writing, one battery per 2 wheels is a safe amount. Otherwise you may find yourself running out of power
- The line color indicates power draw. If it is red, it’s drawing too much power, more power sources can fix this
