Overview
As the title says, this will teach you how to change the BGS logo intro that displays when you launch the game. No mods required, but you will be replacing a specific file.
What’s Required
Before we get into the guide, one starting note: Once you finish this and launch the game, you might notice that the video is off. This isn’t supposed to happen, but if it does, I’m 70% sure it might have to do with the video’s resolution and size. I tested this with the intro from Oblivion (with it’s file, not a YouTube video) and it worked fine, but I tested this with a YouTube video with the Windows 98 logo and launch sound, only half of it was showing for me. You might get a similar result if you’re using a video that isn’t from another game. Try finding a way to adjust the size, I’d show you how, but I don’t know how to do that.
First off, you will need the video file you’ll be replacing this with and it should be in bik format. Remember that, unlike Morrowind or Oblivion, you can’t skip the intro video, so I’d recommend you use a short video (unless you can find a mod that lets you skip it, but I don’t know of any).
You also need some way to convert your video file to bik format, unless it’s already bik.
And finally, you need a way to extract zip files, which I won’t describe in this guide, but there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube on how to install 7zip. I’ll paste a link in this section here.
I know it has Vault Boy in the thumbnail and the description mentions modding, but it isn’t just for Fallout or modding, it works for extracting just about any zip file, whether it’s a mod or not, and I won’t be using any mods in this tutorial for the sake of convenience for those who aren’t interested in mods.
Converting To Bik Format
This isn’t required if the file is already in bik format.
To convert to bik, you’ll first need to download The RAD Video Tools from the link below:
[link]Once you download it, make a folder and extract the contents of the 7zip file to the folder (the password is “RAD”).
Once that’s done, run the exe file and install the program (I’d highly recommend you set it to install in the folder you just made, but you can make another folder if you wish).
Now, in the folder the installer made, copy the video file you want into the folder (the folder called RADVideo, it should be in the folder you made).
Finally, run either radvideo32 or radvideo64 (it depends on whether you use a 32 bit or 64 bit system. If you don’t know, go to your computer’s Settings and About. It should tell you next to System Type). Once you open it, click on the video file. At the bottom, there should be an option that says Bink It. Once you click on the video file, press that option, and it should convert.
Feel free to uninstall the program using the uninstall exe if you don’t need it anymore.
Actually Changing The BGS Logo Intro
Ok, now you should have the video file you need in bik format, so now we’re ready
Once you have the file, go to the video folder in Skyrim’s Data folder (located in SteamsteamappscommonSkyrim Special EditionDataVideo).
You’ll notice a file called BGS_Logo. Copy the name and either delete or back the file up (backing it up is recommended). Now place your video file (again, must be in bik format) and place it in the folder.
Now that the file is in the Data/Video folder, rename it to BGS_Logo, It should be finished.
Final Notes
If you end up needing or wanting to validate the files, you’ll get the warning that one of the files failed to validate. That one file is the original BGS_Logo file. If you validate the files, it will get rid of the new one and replace it with the older one. Once that happens, replace the file again and it should be back now.
I hope this helped you out, I mostly made this as a guide because I thought someone else would want to try this out.
