Want to hear french voice-overs while playing Joan of Arc Campaign with english (or other language) text?What about spanish on El Cid campaign, or Portuguese on Francisco de Almeida Campaign? Then this is the guide for you!
Introduction
If you’re reading this I assume you’re interested in changing language of what you hear in game, like the story introduction for the levels and scripted voices for the language of the culture of the campaign you are playing. If you want to hear the narrator and voices in french on Joan of Arc campaign, or Spanish on El Cid’s while text is in another, follow this guide.
Step by step:
1 – Open the AO2 Definitive Edition Steam Folder:
To do this, go to your Steam Library, right click Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, click on Properties, then click on Local Files and Browse Local Files. This will open the game folder on the explorer.
2 – Go to “Resources” and then “En” for english (Or your desired text language)
3 – Copy the “Strings” Folder
This is the folder where all the english text in the game is stored.
4 – Enter every other language Folder and delete the “Strings” folder
inside and paste the “En” Strings Folder you copied before
This will make other languages texts in the game to be in english.
5 – Open the game and go to the Options button on the main menu
6 – Change the Language to respective language of the Campaign you want to play
This will change the voices of the game to the selected language.
7 – Now you can play the France Campaign with French voiceovers and English Texts, etc!
