Overview
This guide is on how to climb walls with a flat surface. However you can apply this technique to any object you’re climbing. (as long as you have enough room to swing)Basic knowledge on how to grip, and how to change where you grip is required.
Climbing Walls with a flat surface
This guide is to help you learn to climb vertical flat facing walls. You can apply this to other surfaces as long as you have enough room to swing. It allows you to traverse in a non traditional manner and possibly avoid interacting with certain parts of a level. It’s also alot of fun climbing.
Starting off, we have a flat vertical surface that is too tall to climb and vault normally
With your arms up, grabbing using both LMB and RMB. Run towards it and jump. Try to grab as high as you can so your feet are dangling free.
Once you’ve done this, release one arm while maintaining a grip with the other
Now, begin to swing from side to side using the A and D keys, or whatever you have your keybinds set to.
once you reach a high arcing point (pictured below), use your free hand to grab onto a part of the surface that is above your already gripping hand
Once you’ve got it (even at little bit higher is good), release the lowest hand, and swing from the opposite direction towards the free hand. Repeat the grab at the arc with your free hand, once again grabbing a part of the surface that is above your already gripping hand.
Repeat and repeat:
With practice you will be able to execute this very quickly and reliably. It’s alot of fun once you’ve mastered it. 🙂
Good luck, and i hope this helped you.
