Overview
This guide will show you how to be and build a medic copter, why, and key components that will be needed for a good bot.Although this guide will contain a metric ton a little bit of shameless self-advertising, the idea will still be how to build a good medic copter, and I will try not to get too focused on the self-advertising part of this guide. Also, while reading, please keep in mind that this is my first guide. I am sorry in advance if anybody’s eyes spontaneously combust due to the bad grammar, spelling, run on sentences etc.And so I begin with the self advertising as i say:My bot is on the shop, search up the user “ChowChowSonic” to find it.
BUT Y I BUILD DIS COPTER AS A MEDIC!?!?!?1?
I’m glad you asked, person whose writing capabilities suck worse than mine!
You see, when working as a medic, you need to heal allies while keeping yourself relatively safe in the process: but hovers, while fast, need to be small and stay close to the ground: This means that they wont have much health when healing, and they will often be caught up in the middle of gunfights, despite their health.
Copters, however, can be larger than hovers, and can fly ABOVE gunfights. Because of this, they can actually take a hit or two in battle, still be fast if they’re built correctly and divert or annoy opponents who are shooting at the bot you’re trying to heal: which will eventually lead to a possible kill assist.
GOTTA GO FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111!![one]1
OK. You are a medic. You need to get to allies in need fast. But if you want to go fast, you need to use THRUST! However, if you want the THRUST you need, you are going to have to use some THRUSTers. As you can see with my bot, I put the majority of the THRUSTers I used on the back, so as to keep it with the IRL helicopter theme that I wanted it to have. Doing so allows for an increased speed average (duh sherlock.) and quick turning for those moments when an ally in the back suddenly develops ALS and can’t run away. I only put 2 Puma THRUSTers for forward movement because I figured that it was fast enough at it’s current speed. Just remember: when it comes to other bots, the more THRUSTers you have, the better.
One thing I wouldn’t reccomend for your bot is to do what I did and put everything in one place, then put minimal connection points between that spot and the main body. We all know why that is the case.
Where’s the BEEF? Oh, it’s on the bot.
As stated before, copters are healthier than hovers, so they have more BEEF to withstand more hits. With that statement, one thing I would reccomend is to make the best use of you bot’s rotor blades and…
PUT ALL THE BEEF ON THAT SANDWICH!
I’m sorry.
I had to.
I have no regrets.
Seriously though. A bot with a million thrusters and few chasis cubes will go faster than Sonic the Hedgehog, but it’s gonna die as quickly as Overwatch’s Tracer. Normally, as a hover user in all cases except for this support bot, I’d be all for this, but a dead healer can’t heal… So don’t do that.
As you can tell with my bot, I put a large secton of chasis cubes at the front and a few at the back: This was done because, well, when charging into battle, floating above allies and keeping them healed is going to get you shot at… which is why I made the part they will likely shoot at the most the hardest to take down. Not only that, but the inside of the front chasis holds a special present…
Getting back to the topic at hand, put lots of BEEF where you think you will get hit the most, but try to use shields as little as possible, but still to some extent. This is mostly because the most they’re going to do is drain an unnecessary amount of max energy and protect from very little. On my bot, I put shields on the back of the front to protect the secret that I mentioned before in case someone snuck behind me and hit me back there.
Really Complicated Components
When building a support copter, you’re not going to need to use radars because you can just fly upwards to find an enemy. Jammers could still be of use, but you don’t need to break your bank soley for them… radar receivers are reccomended, but like normal radars, don’t go nuts on the biggest and strongest or the most of the weakest.
Here comes my favorite part: MODULES
Id reccomend only one module per bot, preferrably the blink module, but here’s what modules Id reccomend, sorted by their uses to a healer:
- Disc shield OR EMP: to prevent the person being healed from taking more damage
- Weapon Energy: If you run out of energy
- Blink OR Ghost: to get around unharmed, use ghost. For Sanic Speed, use blink
