Disclaimer: This guide is aimed towards cpu levels less than 900. If your bot surpasses this you will most likely not need to use this guide.So, having trouble with those pesky teslas? Well i’ve got some solutions for you, and you’re gonna see how weak tesla oriented bots are!
Tesla Types
Before we discuss strategy, lets go over the tiers of teslas!
Mass and Cpu are unimportant and are not included.
For anyone who doesn’t know what nominal means, it’s the “best” quantity for maximizing efficiency with a weapon.
The Tesla Slicer-
Health : 21276
Damage : 45000 per hit
Power Consumption – 0 per hit
Single Blase Fire Rate – 1.67 per second
Nominal Fire Rate – 6.67 per second
Nominal Count – 4 blades
The Tesla Ripper-
Health : 26595
Damage : 67500 per hit
Power Consumption : 3.902 per hit
Single Blade Fire Rate : 2.33 per second
Nominal Fire Rate : 6.67 per second
Nominal Count – 3 blades
The Tesla Nova-
Health : 31914
Damage : 101250 per hit
Power Consumption : 6.19 per hit
Single Blade Fire Rate : 3.33 per second
Nominal Fire Rate : 6.67 per second
Nominal Count : 2 blades
Notice the bolded words? Those are important, the rest of this guide will return to those stats.
Weapon Counters
You are undoubtedly going to be able to hurt teslas with any weapon, but some are better for the job.
(ion distorter is difficult to obtain and is not included)
My personal best weapons for countering teslas are:
Smgs ( lasers )
Rails
Plasmas
First : Smgs (lasers)
Smgs shoot fast, and the weakest variant deals 3798 damage per hit
With the laser hornet it will take:
6 hits to kill a tesla slicer
8 hits to kill a tesla ripper
9 hits to kill a tesla nova.
All of the tesla variants are easily killed with a laser wasp. And as you go up into the better variants, it will take less hits to kill the teslas, but accuracy will be key. Personally i use front laser vaporizers, but those will be a little difficult to obtain early on.
Second : Rails
Many people see the rail and think “sniper rifle”, which is generally what it is. But with mech or spider legs, even while moving – it is perfectly accurate. Plus, you have no need to zoom in, so quickly noscoping a close enemy is a strong strategy.
The rail piercer does 26400 damage
The rail penetrator does 33524 damage (instakills all teslas)
The rail decimator 45257 damage (instakills all teslas)
The rail erazer does 61097 damage. (instakills all teslas)
Early on, you may only get a piercer, but do not fret, this still will instakill tesla slicers and severly damage other types for you to finish off with plasmas or lasers.
Don’t forget, rails will pierce teslas, if you shoot one, and they have a group of teslas all bound together, they will all be shredded up
Third : Plasmas
The plasma devestator will instakill all teslas
The plasma goliathon will instakill all teslas
Plasmas are great for destroying huge groups of teslas, but is relatively unforgiving if you mess up.
Plasma Pulser:
12615 damage per hit
This means that the plasma pulser will:
2 hit a tesla slicer
3 hit a tesla ripper
3 hit a tesla nova

Plasma Disrupter:
15138 damage per hit
This means that the plasma disrupter will:
2 hit a tesla slicer
2 hit a tesla ripper
3 hit a tesla nova

Plasma Bombarder:
18922 damage per hit
This means that the plasma disrupter will:
2 hit all tesla variants

Plasma Ravager:
25230 damage per hit
This means that the plasma bombarder will
Instakill a tesla slicer
2 hit the tesla ripper and tesla nova

All in all, the best weapons for destroying teslas are
all laser variants
all plasma variants
and rail penetrator+
Robot Counters
Sure you can use weapons to disable teslas, but if those fail, or the tesla gets too close, movement and the correct structure of a bot is smart.
1. Use mech or insect legs : with legs you can easily jump over a tesla that is rushing you, although be careful when doing this, because the game tends to glitch, and even though you are far above them, you will still receive damage.
With the insect legs, you can go up walls, which means some hover or wheeled tesla will never be able to reach you, not without some wings…
2. Don’t make your bot extremely compact : when a tesla hits you, it hits hard – and in a large radius, which means your compact bot will be utterly destroyed. Becareful though, if it’s too loose (not connected well), your bot will easily die from other weapons such as rails, laser, or plasmas.
3. Use hover blades : If your opponent is a sled tesla you can simply hover above them, given your bot is not heavy, and that your hover blades keep you high.
Frankly, i’d use legs over hover blades, as hover blades are usually ineffective against teslas.
4. Make your bot fly! : If you can fly, with wings or helicopter blades, just like the insect legs – those pesky teslas will never reach you, just don’t crash…
5. If you have a blink drive, use it : Self explanatory really, just warp away when they get close or hit you.
Planning/Strategies
If you happen to encounter or spot a tesla oriented bot, heres some extra tips.
1. If you plan to jump over it, run towards it, waiting and jumping will result in you falling on it’s blades.
2. If you see a tesla, make sure to spot it with Q (or your spot button), so that it cannot sneak up on your allies (or you!)
3. If a tesla (that you’ve seen) hides behind a corner, or a wall. Don’t rush around the corner, make a curve and stay a good distance away if you plan to rush it.
4. Target the teslas, don’t just aim at his bot, aim at the teslas specifically.
5. Target it’s movement, if you feel safer stopping it from moving, do that – a tesla without movement is as good as dead.
6. Move backwards, staying far away while shooting will result in a cleanly killed tesla.
7. If you use railguns, snipe the tesla from a distance.
8. If the tesla is close and you have railguns, aim at it and noscope it. This strategy is better when shooting at the tesla with a laser and quickly switching between the rail and the laser to maximize cooldowns/dps.
9. I have seen the rare occurence of teslas using cloak and warp in games with less than 900 cpu, this means they will be far weaker than usual, but will have a tiny upperhand. Cloaks in this game are ridiculously easy to see, if you see a bot just vanish, look closer for the obvious wavering. And if they warp, get ready for a kill to be lost, or for a fight (warping away or to you)
