Overview
A brief guide on how to create or download pre-created maps into the game without having to open the mods menu.
The Workshop and Maps
Step one: Simply go on the steam workshop and simply download the map mods you want.
Step two: Wait about twenty-five minutes and open your mods folder (C:Users(Whatever your user is)DocumentsMy GamesSid Meier’s Civilization VMODS)
Step three: Look for all the .CIV5MAP files you just downloaded (sorting them by date modified will help)
Step four: Copy all the files you just downloaded
Step 5: Paste them into your game installation (C:Program Files (try Program Files x86 if it’s not here)SteamSteamAppsCommonSid Meier’s Civilization VAssetsMaps)
And now you can load these mods like any other map in the game through the additional maps bar.
WorldBuilder and Making Your Own Maps
Step 1: Go under your tools tab on Steam
Step 2: Install Civilization V SDK
Step 3: Open Civilization V SDK
Step 4: Choose WorldBuilder from the menu
Step 5: Wait for WorldBuilder to load (may take a while)
Step 6: Design your map (I’m not going to go into details since WorldBuilder is very self-explanatory and simple to figure out and use)
Step 7: Save your map as a .CIV5MAP file in Civ5’s maps folder (program files, NOT my games)
You can now open your map in-game through the additional maps bar.
