Overview
This guide will teach players how to drive a manual car in City Car Driving.
Welcome
Welcome to my guide on how to drive a manual car in City Car Driving! We will be performing the basic steps, which will hopefully help you get started driving manual cars!
Starting The Car
Starting a manual car is not the same as starting automatics. You should always start a manual car in the “neutral” position(otherwise known as N.) This is to make sure the car does not move while starting.
Moving The Car
Moving the car is a big step, and may take a bit to get used to. Just follow these steps thoroughly.
- Hold down the clutch
- Shift into first gear while the clutch is still held down
- Slowly rev the car up while the clutch is still held down
- Release the clutch slowly while RPMs are still high
- Start moving the car
There you go! Your car should now be moving in first gear! Just remember, when you are revving the car up, you do not need to rev it up very high! Only rev it up enough so that the car can start moving without stalling!
Shifting Up
Shifting up while driving is not difficult. It is easier to shift up than it is to start moving the car. Follow these steps.
- When RPMs are high, release of the accelerator
- Hold clutch in and shift into the next gear
- Push accelerator back in
You should now be able to shift up while driving!
Shifting Down
Shifting down is very similar to shift up; if not the same. This is assuming you are stopping at a red light(or any other point.) Just follow these steps.
- Brake slightly
- Hold clutch in
- Shift down gears
You should now be able to shift down!
Stopping Point
If you are stopped at a red light or stop sign, you have two options.
- Hold the clutch in while sitting in first gear
- Shift into neutral and sit
Notice, while you’re sitting in neutral, you do not need to hold the clutch down. This is because the RPMs sit at a certain rate where the car won’t stall. If you’re sitting in first gear, you will need to hold the clutch in.
Stalling
Stalling is when your car unexpectedly shuts down because your RPMs decreased massively. Your car will only stall if the RPMs reach 0. This is why we always rev the car up when starting to move forwards or backwards(1st or R.) This is also why we hold the clutch if we are at a stopping point, and are sitting in first gear.
Congratulations!
Congratulations! You’ve learned how to drive a manual car in City Car Driving! Most(if not all) of this can be used in real life driving as well! Just be cautious when driving. Always follow the road laws! Thank you for reading my guide! Have fun!
