Overview
This is meant to point new players in the right direction if they have trouble finding matches to play.
Introduction
Due to the low amount of people consistently playing the game, it can be very hard to find games in the online lobbies. This guide is just a couple tips that might help you find games.
Discord
If you haven’t already, you should join the Maiden & Spell discord! Because it’s a public server, you can look it up on public server search or just type discord.gg/mns to create an invite.
From there, you can go into the #matchmaking_and_spell channel and see if you can get anyone to respond to your request for a match or ping the beginner role. If you want to, you can go into the general vc and see if anyone joins. Of course, you’re not actually guaranteed to find someone to play this way but it can go a long way for finding games and becoming a note-worthy member of the Maiden & Spell community.
Beta branch
Someone is likely to inform you of this if you bring it up on the discord but sometimes most people are playing on a beta branch version of the game. To switch your game to the beta branch, right click the game on your library and click on properties.
After you select to opt into the beta, a small download should occur and you might find a lobby or 2 there.
Notes
Some things to keep in mind
– Some days no one will want to or can’t play Maiden & Spell
– There’s a possibility that there’s no difference between the beta or main branch, even the people you find
– Maybe this game is just simply dead and no one plays it ever anymore 🙁
– Maybe the game has gotten *much* more popular and finding people to play is no sweat most days
– When you do encounter players. remember to be nice to them and ask/give advice if needed 🙂
