Overview
I know several people out there are encountering problems when they start their Bioshock game. I did research over the forums and decided to make this easy to use guide to help anyone out there that can’t start playing their game.
The problem
To help you with your problem, we need to first decide if the problem you are having is indeed the issue I intend to fix. This guide assumes you have Windows 7 or later.
When you double click the Bioshock on your dashboard, the mini window should open with a rectangle and the Bioshock title image. Around this time is when your computer will display an error window that says something like this. “An error has occured with bioshock.exe”
This window will be open for a few moments then another window will open.
If this is the case for you then we are on the same page.
The solution
The solution is a simple one and this is how.
First, you’re going to go to “Library”
From the library, you need to right-click Bioshock and select “Properties”.
This will open a window that looks like this. From here you need to click on “local files” than “Browse local files”
The resulting window will be a windows file viewer. The next step is clicking on “Build”
Click “Release”
An icon in the Release folder will be called “Bioshock.exe”
Right click this and select “Properties”
Now select “Compatibility”
Almost there. Hang in there
From here select the operating system you want to use. I’ve circled the dropdown bar
Select Windows Vista service pack two. I use Windows 95 but that may work only with my computer.
Click Apply then OK
Start your game, it should work just fine.
You guys
Feel free to post comments on how it worked and if this didn’t help, let me know and I’ll try my best to help you.
This is a guide for the people and that means that I need the people to respond and give me feedback.
Have fun Splicing! 😀
