Overview
If you fulfilled the conditions of an achievement but it did not register, here are some things that should solve the problem
Fixing it
Something about the game’s achievements is broken but the developer does not want to fix it (I reported it several times, a long time ago) so you have to help yourself.
If you got an achievement like Gold Digger or Mariachi Champ that shows as completed in the game but not on steam, then you found yourself in the same pickle as I did since doing it again will not get you the achievement.
Basically you can now choose to
1) Delete your saved game and try it all again from the start or
2) Cheat it.
If you don’t know how to edit the saved game, both ways might take about the same amount of time, that’s why I wrote this guide.
In any case the first thing you will want to do is locate your saved game and make a copy of it somewhere in case you mess up or just want to revert to the last status after you’re done.
You can find them in the following folder:
C:UsersAppDataLocalSpoiler_Alert
While is the user name you use to log into Windows.
Here you will find two files:
playerachievementcache – an .dat file that you can’t edit and
SpoilerAlertData – you can edit this file with the windows text editor or WordPad or whatever progamme you like.
After making a copy in a different folder you should try to just delete SpoilerAlertData, start the game and get one or two more gold stars (or whatever is needed for your missed achievement)
Sometimes this fixes it and saves you a lot of work.
There is also a function to delete the saved game in the menu (accessed by clicking the gear-wheels and then the cross in the lower right corner) but I’m not sure if that will preserve the part of the achievement status needed for this to work.
If it didn’t work, copy your backed up file back into the folder (but leave the copy) and open SpoilerAlertData – you can press control+f to search for the sections you need.
Step 1
You will find a section titled [ACHIEVEMENTS] that says eg.
achGoldDigger=1.000000
achStateGoldDigger=90.000000
This means that you already have the achievement and collected 90 gold stars in the three main worlds. In order to get the achievement again we need to change that 1 for a 0 and revert the state by one (90 becomes 89).
Step 2
You will also find a section that says
[LEVELS]
W1=1.000000 etc.
this means that the corresponding world is unlocked.
World 5 is the Mariachi world and I have no idea what world 4 is – maybe it was canceled.
You will find the same for the levels eg.
W1_Level1=1.000000
Make sure they are all unlocked.
Step 3
Now it’s tme to [SCORE]. Look for the section where the levels say
W1_Level1=3.000000
This indicates a gold star.
For the Mariachi Champ, Gold Digger or Spoiler Alert achievements you should make sure they all have 3 exept for one easy level, where you put 2.
Next, locate the total score for each world eg.
W1_SCORE=30.000000 and make sure they all are at 30 exept for the world where you left one level at silver. Put a 29 there (Mariachi has just 10 levels so make it 9)
I’m not sure if you have to adapt the level times so just leave them alone and tell me if it worked.
Step 4
Now you just have to close save and close the file and start the game. Find the last silver level that you lleft earlier and get a gold star in the last level that you left at =2.000000 before and you should get the achievement. If you see only golden worlds or a gold star above the world you forgot something.
For some reason this did not work for the Mariachi World for me but here I could just delete the whole file and then the achievement popped up after I completed the first level with a gold star.
I hope this guide will help you to get the achievement you deserve.
