Overview
In this guide you’ll find the fixes for the most common technical issues.Source: https://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Ryse:_Son_of_Rome
Can’t select Very High texture quality
The reason why this is locked may be because the game thinks your PC doesn’t have the needed power (VRAM) to run it.
How to fix it:
Edit system.cfg
- Go to the game folder (in steamapps).
- Find system.cfg and open it with a text editor.
- Find sys_localization_folder=Localization and add the follow two lines under it:
- sys_spec_texture=4
- sys_spec_textureresolution=4
- Save the file.
Low FPS issue
This may happen cause the game doesn’t use all the power at its disposal.
How to fix:
Turn on ShadowPlay
- Turn on ShadowPlay on Nvidia gpus or use Windows 10 Game DVR feature, amd Radeon Relive may have same effect (needs confirmation).
How to enable ShadowPlay:
- If you don’t have Geforce Experience, install it. (https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/geforce-experience/) ONLY NVIDIA GPUs
- After everything is set up, it should be enable by default, to check it go to settings in Geforce Experience and if you see in the in-game overlay section something green then it’s enabled.
Low CPU performance
Just like in the section before: the game may not use your PC to the fullest potential.
How to fix:
Edit system.cfg
- Go to the game directory.
- Open and edit system.cfg with a text editor.
- Find sys_localization_folder=Localization and add the following line under it:
- sys_highrestimer=1
- Save the file.
Fix stuttering
Edit system.cfg
The following steps may fix stuttering on some systems due to the way VSYNC is handled in the game.
First apply the Low CPU performance fix. (See above)
- Go to the game directory
- Open and edit system.cfg with a text editor.
- Add this line at the bottom of the file to enable triple buffering: r_NumBackbuffers=3
- Save the file.
- Go to Nvidia control panel (or AMD equivalent) and enable both Triple Buffering and VSYNC (or adptive VSYNC) for Ryse in the “Manage 3D Settings” tab and press Apply.
- Disable VSYNC in game.
