Overview
This is a compilation of solutions for fixing various technical issues with the game, which, sadly, there are quite a few of.
Cutscenes are instantly skipped
Cause: custom codecs installed by the user, typically with codec packs like KCP or CCCP, which the game wasn’t programmed to work with.
Solution 1:
If you do have some codec pack installed which uses LAV Splitter, then do the following:
Go to LAV Splitter settings menu, Input Formats, uncheck AVI.
You can usually find it by just typing “LAV Splitter” in Windows Search:
[link]
If this doesn’t fix the issue – see if you have any codec packs installed that you forgot about and remove them. If this isn’t the case, as a last resort, install KCP[haruhichan.com] and perform the same procedure mentioned above.
Solution 2:
Download K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool[www.majorgeeks.com]
In “Fixes” select “Detect and remove broken DirectShow filters” and “Re-register base DirectShow filters”
Note – Media Players like MPC-HC or VLC have self-contained codecs, so removing them is not needed, it won’t accomplish anything at all.
Game crashes on start
Possible cause 1: game is installed on an external harddrive
Solution: reinstall the game on any internal harddrive. Don’t install ANY games on extrenal harddrives, because they are slow as hell and generally are not meant for running games.
Possible cause 2: Steam overlay
Solution: if the game is installed on internal harddrive already – try launching it directly from the game directory, not through Steam. If this works, next you can try disabling Steam overlay in game settings (Steam Library -> game properties -> uncheck “Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game”) and running the game from Steam without it.
Game crashes after battle
Solution: Enabling XP compatibility mode
- Go into the game directory, if you don’t know where it is – find the game in your Steam library, rclick, select properties, Local Files, Browse Local Files
- Rclick NeptuniaReBirth1.exe, Properties, Compatibility, check “run this program in compatibility mode”, select Windows XP SP2 compatibility.
MSVCP110.dll error
Cause: missing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable package for Visual Studio 2012
Solution: download and install it from a Microsoft website (Steam doesn’t allow to post the link for some reason) – search in Google “Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012”
DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT FROM ANY THIRD-PARTY (non-Microsoft) WEBSITES! Especially the ones which offer you to download some dll files!
For an x64 system you will most likely need both x86 and x64 versions.
Game doesn’t save
Cause: non-latin symbols in your “My Documents” path.
Solution 1: Rename your WIndows User Accout, so that it won’t contain any non-latin symbols.
Go to Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change your account name
Solution 2: Relocate your My Documents folder.
For Win 7/8[windows.microsoft.com]
For Win XP[support.microsoft.com]
Again, make sure that new path contains only latin symbols.
purchased DLCs aren’t activated
Solution: activate them is Steam Library.
Go to Steam Library, rclick Neptunia, select “View Downloadable Content” and check any DLCs that are unchecked.
