This is a short guide on how to get help with any question in Killing Floor. Whether its is KF not working, or how to get an achievement, or how to level up a perk, or how to beat the Flesh Pound. A simple step by step process to getting the answer to any question
How to get help with anything in Killing Floor
1. Search the forum before posting. 99% of the time your question has been asked and answered a few dozen times. You will find the answer faster and keep the forum clean. [link]
2. Do a web search. Sometimes you need to go to Bing, Webcrawler, or other search engine and type in your question or problem to find the answer.
3. Look in the GUIDE section of the Community Hub. Most issues have a guide.
4. If you have really tried to find the answer and can not, start a thread. GIVE THAT THREAD A GOOD TITLE !!!! Yelling Help! is not a good title. ” KF starts then disappears on Mac” is a good title. ” Need help – can not read text in KF” is a good title (and the fix is already listed), ” Need help getting Grim Reaper Skin” is okay, “Help Commando Perk” is not okay.
5. Make an effort to give good info in the post.
– copy of the error message if there is one
– clear description of the issue
– list your OS (operating system), video card, ISP (internet provider), router
– list each fix you have tried, the order in which they were tried, and what if anything happened after each fix . Give details like you are being graded on the report or like you are paying us by the hour and whatever you miss we will charge you $$$ for
5.1 If it is not a techical error then give information about the problem and what you have done to fix it
– name of the achievement or perk or map or other
– specific issue ( Perk was reset from level 6 to zero as an example).
– what you have tried so far ( did a web search, looked at you tube video, went to the guide section, did these steps based on info I found)
6. Do not scream and curse. Do not threaten to never buy from Tripwire if someone doesn’t help you. Remember the people helping you are volunteers. Act like a deck, get treated like a deck. Act like someone is being kind and doing you a favor, and maybe someone will be kind and do you a favor.
7. After you get a response, reply promptly. It sucks to have several people offer help, then the person never responds again. Did it help? Are we wasting our time? Thank you? It will also help the next person to read the thread if they can see your results. Some fixes will work for others and not for you, don’t get all hissy if a fix doesn’t work. ” Thanks for that response, tried but it didn’t seem to work for me. When I did it xyz happened, any other tips? Thank you again for trying”
8. Bump helpful threads from time to time. For some reason people won’t read pinned threads, but they will read the top 5 – 10 normal threads.
9. If you have a fix that works, feel free to post in the comments or send it to me in the guide. You will get full credit.
