Overview
This guide will show you a clear and detailed step-by-step guide in order to get the affection of this adorably irresistable piglet.
Getting to know Poogie
Poogie (プーギー) is a pet pig that has been in every Monster Hunter game to date. Poogie serves as one of the mascots of the Monster Hunter series.
In most games Poogie can be found in your room as a pet. But for Monster Hunter: World, Poogie is located near the supply vendor on the first floor of Astera.
When first interacting with Poogie, an “!” symbol will appear. Followed by Poogie bashing you down on the ground, leaving you disherteaned as why Poogie would do something rude, yet adorable.
Do not give up, little piglet!
Poogie may not come to like you instantly. But successfully building a relationship with this porky fellow will ultimately leave you satisfied.
Players can interact with Poogie with a good petting. This met with a minigame that requires you to press buttons at the right time. There will be a melody playing during this that you must listen to. A big red exclamation mark (!) will appear as if this was the titular game series “Metal Gear Solid”. When the mark appears you must press the O button, the B button (depending on your controller) or Right Click (for mouse and keyboard) in order to successfully complete petting procedure. You need to keep petting Poogie until the hearts he gets from petting turns into one big heart and he dances around. Failing to do so will have Poogie ramming you down on the ground and running back to its house until the next quest.
This should be done in between quests in order to achieve the maximum relationship status with the piggy. Regular petting leads to more interactions such as:
- Pet
- Pick Up
- Change Clothes
- Edit Name (But why would you?)
Yes. You can change it’s clothes. Hold your diabetes for a second.
The Ideal Pig
After you further your relationship with Poogie, you’re able to pick up the porkchop and parade it around Astera. But wait, there’s more. If something is nearby, Poogie will start squirming in your arms, and if you have a controller, it will start vibrating. If you put down Poogie in any of those spots, they will find the exact spot, sniff, dig, and present to you an item (or piece of clothing!). This can only be done once in between quests. Once you find one thing, you cannot find another until you complete another quest.
Most of these hidden items detected by Poogie’s snout are materials, but a few give costumes that you use to dress up the pig.
Dress to Impress
There are 5 costumes in total for Poogie:
- Memorial Striped : Which is the base costume.
- Apprentice Fiver: Next to The Huntsman and the white flag.
- White Jammies: Next to the big fossile rock on the far left of the Ecological Research Area
- Hog in a Frog: Under the lamp on the right of the harvest baskets, near the water.
- Emperor’s New Duds: All the way up inside the observation point, need to go through the Smithy Area and keep climbing. (REMEMBER that you need to complete the story in order to discover this one!)
Important note: There may be story progression requirement to unlock these costumes.

Actual Factuals
Poogie has, so far, no role in the main story.
When brought to the Canteen he will squeal and run (roasted pork), he will reappear in the next quest.
It is rumored (but never has been proven) that snuggling with the pig gives the hunter good luck on carving rare items. We’d like to believe that may be true.
