How to GO FAST™

Part One: Tech Setup

This guide HEAVILY relies on the use of Air Dash and Multi-Jump (which are, in fact and irrefutably, the best tech setup and I will die on this hill). It doesn't matter what sphere you use, I personally use water sphere just because this guide makes the other ones mostly obsolete.

To begin, Multi-Jump is your MAIN tool for controlling your position mid-air. In general this is the best leg tech for maintaining air time, while Air-Dash is a solid way to instantly change your trajectory at any point while ALSO functioning as a backup to save your fall.

This tech setup alone isn't enough to GO FAST™, but they are ESSENTIAL for maintaining air time and preserving momentum. GOING FAST™ works best when you're airborne as much as possible, so being able to pivot in real time is essential and not something you can really achieve with the other tech options.

Part Two: Items

You only need two items, both of which are the real meat of this guide. One item for building CRAZY horizontal speed, and one for jumping HIGH.

Grappling Hook - You can run with rope in the early game, but obviously a Grappling Hook is way more sustainable in the long run (because it's not consumable and also way faster).

Here's a neat lil trick: simply launch a grapple onto the ground in front of you, pull yourself forward and jump right before you disengage your hook. You build INSANE forward momentum that simultaneously outclasses Rocket-Jump, Sprint and Sonic-Sphere. It also costs 0 energy to use!

Here I also want to mention why this is more practical than Sprint in particular, which I've seen a lot of people claim to be the best tech option. Where Sprint constantly consumes energy, is unreliable on uneven terrain, and overrides ALL other actions aside from jumping, Grappling Hook sidesteps every one of these issues and only requires one hand in your hotbar. Pair it with Multi-Jump and you unlock the first key to GOING FAST™.

Common Broadsword - We're specifically looking for the Rising Slash alt ability, which can be found as early as the Iron Broadsword but can also be found on any generated broadsword.

Let's talk about animation-canceling.

As far as I am aware, any item containing a special ability that involves special movement (i.e teleportation, forward momentum etc.) can be exploited by SIMPLY switching items mid-animation; canceling the ability without halting your movement. With Rising Slash, animation-canceling does this:

WOW. Nevermind the tech setup, this alone can outclass Rocket Jump with EASE. Granted, this takes a bit of practice but it's not terribly difficult to get the hang of. This, in combination with the tech setup (particularly Multi-Jump), allows you to achieve INSANE heights. This is the second key to GOING FAST™.

(lil edit - I didn't realize this at first, but you can't actually SEE me switching items in the GIFs. This is because I'm switching from AND back to the broadsword faster than the frames of the GIF, which I'm a little embarrassed to admit.)

Part Three: Combine!

Soooo what does it look like when you use the tech and items together?

You go FAST™.

Oh, and not to mention how MOVEMENT BONUSES affect these results. Anything from stim packs to mobility augments and you will be FLYING across planets.

Thanks for checking this thingy out, hope you learned something good :)
