How to have different languages for the interface/subtitles and the voices

Overview

Take 10 minutes or less to mod your game, and you’ll be able to play it with the voices of your choice, and the language you want for the UI and the subtitles !

Tutorial

I will use here as an example the english voices and the french language for the interface. For other languages, you’ll have to use different suffixes (it, cz, ru, pl, en and so on).

Set the game language to english in the Steam interface.
Download and install Total Commander[www.ghisler.com], a file manager, free to try for 30 days (use only the 32 bits version because of the plugin compatibility).
Download the plugin Game Archive Unpacker[forrox.narod.ru] and extract the content to Total Commander’s folder.

Launch the 32 bits version of Total commander (TOTALCMD.EXE). Go to Configuration => Options => Packer => Configure packer extension WCXs => All files with extension (ending with) => type in the box: arch05 => click New type… => locate and select gaup_pro.wcx => OK => OK

In Total Commander, go to you games folder: …SteamSteamAppscommonShadowOfMordor
Select global.arch05 => globalbundles

Select the files with your language suffix:

globalresources_fr.bndlxml05
globalresources_fr.embb

Extract them to a temp folder (press Ctrl+ click to select several files at a time).

Replace your language’s suffix by ‘en’.

Select the two files, drag and drop them to the place from where they were extracted.
A window will pop-up: Pack 2 files to the archive. Uncheck all boxes, then: Ok
Overwrite all. Done.

Do the same operation for hotchunk_Patch.arch05: extract the two files, rename, repack.
(You may do a backup of these archives before you modify them.)

DLCs: its seems that you have to do changes also in DLC1.arch05, for these files in interfacebundlesmainmenulocdlc

lothendplate_fr.bndlxml05 > lothendplate_en.bndlxml05
lothendplate_fr.embb > lothendplate_en.embb
mainmenu_tex_french.bndlxml05 > mainmenu_tex.bndlxml05
mainmenu_tex_french.embb > mainmenu_tex.embb

Same for DL2.

Launch the game. Enjoy !

Note: be aware that dialogues that you will be hearing when wandering around do not have subtitles, and if you don’t understand english, you will miss some funny stuff when it comes to Uruks.

PS: english is not my native language, please tell me if there are mistakes
