How to improve performance. UPDATED (May 8)

Overview

This is a simple chunk of information you can copy and paste into your DefaultEngine.ini file in your game’s folder that will improve the games overall performance quite a bit.

UPDATED!!!! Amazing new launch options!

Okay, so I did some digging. \ and I got these really cool launch codes that have made this game (and any unreal 4 game) run super fast. You can still find the texture optimization I’ve given below. But for now, new stuff:

Copy and paste the following into your steam launch options.

-USEALLAVAILABLECORES -sm4 -lowmemory

Explanation:

-USEALLAVAILABLECORES — This will force the game to use your full processing potential. I do not reccomend this if you are trying to multitask but if you are just playing the game it is a very good idea.

– sm4 — for an unoticable drop in graphics and a boost in performance this will force the game to run in Shader mode 4 instead of anything later.

-lowmemory — this will force the game to run in lowmemory mode which means the game will want for less resources at the same time you’re pumping it full of them. the end result is better performance with an unoticable change in graphics.

NOW LET’S TALK ABOUT TEXTURES!

This will render your textures in billinear. Billinear is typically the fastest. So let’s get to it. These are, of course, only suggestion so feel free to make them whatever you want.

First Let’s go to the Orion folder, so click and open it. Next you see several more folders, click on the one named Config and open it. Now you see a list of .ini files. Click and open (or right click and choose to open with notepad) the .ini DefaultEngine.ini. Scroll down to where you see [SystemSettings] and replace every line that begins with TEXTUREGROUP with everything below. Take your time, make sure you don’t overwrite anything except the TEXTUREGROUP lines so there is not a conflict.

Next Let’s go to the Engine folder, so click and open it. Next you see several more folders, click on the one named Config and open it. Now you see a new list of .ini files. Click and open (or right click and choose to open with notepad) the .ini BaseEngine.ini. Scroll down to where you see [SystemSettings] , you’ll notice a note that has been left stating how this part has been omitted. Delete that and paste the below under [SystemSettings] as you did in the previous file.
