How to increase FOV in ARMA

1. Basic information

Default ARMA 3 FOV is claustrophobic as it provides 70° horizontal field of view. There is no option to edit it in game, but by changing config file it can be freely adjusted between 70° and 120°.

2. How to change FOV

  1. Go to C:\Users\[your_username]\Documents\Arma 3
  2. Open [your_username].Arma3Profile with text editor of your choice (I recommend notepad++)
  3. Find fovTop and set it to 1.03 (fovTop=1.03;)
  4. Find fovLeft and set it to 1.83 (fovLeft=1.83;)
  5. While we are here you may as well turn off smoothing and acceleration, find mouseSmoothing and mouseAcceleration, set both to 0 (mouseSmoothing=0; mouseAcceleration=0;)
  6. Save changes and close file
Two first values will increase FOV from claustrophobic 70° to nice 90°. You can set FOV how you prefer, just use any of these two for calculators so you will know how to set values:
I recommend using FOV between 85° and 100°

mouseSmoothing and mouseAcceleration will allow game to accept raw input from mouse instead of game trying to correct mouse movement. You can check what mouse smoothing is here[prosettings.net] and what mouse acceleration is here[prosettings.net]
