Overview
This guide explains the installation of a Last Stand mod, which is aimed towards bringing more variety to Last Stand.
What is Forgotten Emerald?
Forgotten Emerald is a Dawn of War II: Retribution mod.
The aim of the mod is to bring more variety and more difficulty to Last Stand,
while not loosing the fun aspect of the mode.
Current mod state: In Development
If any gamebreaking bugs are found, i will release bugfix patches made to address them.
Abovementioned patches may also bring minor balance tweaks if they are needed.
What exacly is this mod doing?
Currently, the mod features a rework of the following classes:
-
Waves 1-12 re-done
- To add more challenge to the players who feel like they can fall asleep in the first 10 waves of Colliseum, enemy waves were made more challenging.
- Some waves include custom minibosses, strong but not without flaws.
Are you ready to face them?
-
Space Marine Captain
- Now he is a multi-role specialist; capable of doing almost any task when equipped properly.
- Most of the time, he will be quite resilient while doing so, thanks to the power armor he is wearing.
- Includes many possible builds, with some of the more iconic ones being Apothecary, Techmarine, Assault marine, Tactical marine, Devastator – all not locked to a specific set of items, but capable of choosing between most of them.
-
Lord General
- The implementation of Lord General in the vanilla last stand was lackluster at best.
- Now, players can enjoy playing Imperial guard like imperial guard was meant to be –
by entrenching positions with multiple turrets, getting several squads on the field, devestating the enemy forces with artillery – or the mix of the above.
-
Chaos Champion (ex-Sorcerer)
- Now, players can choose which god to worship – or worship Chaos as a whole.
- Players that pledge their allegiance via a commander item can still take items dedicated to other gods – but they will find that because of that, spirits that power different accessories conflict and cause unintended side-effects. However sometimes, those can even be used to the wearer’s advantage.
Quality of Life
In order for the mod to proliferate, several quality-of-life things have been implemented.
Some are never seen beforehand in any retribution mod.
-
Launcher
- The mod is using a custom-made launcher
- The abovementioned launcher is also serving the purpose of automatically installing and updating the mod – all with a single press of a button.
- Launcher also will automatically connect you to the group chat (unless stated otherwise), to enable finding a match much easier.
-
Techincal Support
- There is a technical support service available via a button inside of the launcher.
- WIth no registration needed for it, players can send support tickets – which then get processed by myself or other people who wish to collaborate on the matter.
- There is also a library of known issues on the Technical Support portal – to ensure a smooth experience.
-
Automatic Update Delivery
- Whenever there is a new version of the mod avialable for public, there is an announcement in the steam group with the changelog
- At the same time, all the players have to do in order to update is press one button in the launcher – the rest is done by a compact SVN client which is distributed with the mod.
- SVN only downloads the files that were changed – minimizing the traffic spent for the players.
