How to (kinda) fix the PhysX Performence issue! for Mirror's Edge

How to (kinda) fix the PhysX Performence issue!

Overview

This small tutorial will show you how to fix the performence drop when you smash glass with PhysX turned on. And guess what? YOU DON’T NEED TO DELETE A SINGLE THING! 😀

Hey guys! :3

So people all over the place have been getting issues with PhysX in Mirror’s Edge.

When you smash glass, your game turns into a slide show, or maybe even crash. When you go through that thin sheet while jumping into the subway on Chapter 4, your FPS dies. When you do ANYTHING PhysX related, your game runs REAL slow.

People have tried everything from reinstalling/updating their drivers, removing files within the game’s folder, to even buying a new graphics card.

Here is a VERY simple fix that doesn’t require any of it.

Here’s how you do it! 😀

It’s as easy as 1 2 3.
1: Open up steam, right click Mirror’s Edge, and select Properties.

2: Go to ‘set launch options’

3: in the box, type in: -d3d9 Then, click ok and close properties, because you’re done! 😀

If that isn’t simple enough, here is a video:

Soo, what did that just do? :/

I’ll admit, it’s not actually fixing the problem, but it’s making it MUCH less noticable.
What that -d3d9 command did was change the games directx version from 3 to 9, making the game run much more smoother, thus less performence issues.

Hope this helps!
