How to make a ball tower

Overview

A guide to building ball towers

Introduction

This guide will go over the basics of building a ball tower, what is required, what you need to avoid to limit ball desync

Mod Requirements

To build a ball tower the most basic thing you will need is the online party+ mod to be able to spawn in more balls and lets you see the balls other people have created.

You need some way of moving in the air with a ball, I find that the best way is the kirby yarn hat mod as it is easliy controllable

I recommend against using the ghost command to try and move the balls as ghost makes you harmlessly pass through balls on your end but to everyone else you knock them over so the tower will get desynced.

The infinite jump badge is useful as while it can’t be used while carrying balls, it is easier to use to get balls floating in the air as you don’t need to use the ability button.

You can use the spawnable ball mod to spawn in more balls but these have the problem of only being synced for people with that mod so I would recommend not using them. on top of that these balls have the problem of you being unable to pick them up while you are not standing on something.

There are also a few more balls you can use in the spaceship hub EX mod and while these balls have the same problem of only being synced for people with the mod, you can stop this being a problem by building the tower in the extra hub itself.

Building the tower

To start with you can place the first 2 balls in a ball tower without jumping and the next 2 without having to use anything like the kirby hat.

The biggest tip is that you don’t throw the ball, you drop it by pressing control on your keyboard or the right trigger on your controller.

when placing the second ball you should be standing about this far from the initial ball, at this distance the ball should just go straight onto the other ball with no issues

Then with all ball’s above that you should stand a bit further back.

You should then aim to drop the ball when you get to this height above the current ball.

Desync

Desync is the greatest enemy of building a ball tower and in this section I will try to inform you of everything that can cause balls to become desynced.

Ball towers can be desynced by:

  • being paused while the tower is being built
  • not being on when the tower is being built
  • using clientside only balls
  • picking up a ball tower
  • not having online party+
  • weird quantum ball stacking
  • balls landing on something that only exists for you (rumbi or something added with a mod)
  • two people picking up the same ball at the same time

If a part of the ball tower falls off do not try to build the ball tower on that part as it is very likely it will be desynced and always go from the top ball down when taking balls off a part that has fallen off as these have lower chance of having balls stacked on top of them for other people

If you and someone else pick up the same ball wait for them to drop it and then drop and pick up yours to sync it.
You can tell if people pick up the same ball by them starting to hold nothing as you pick up a ball

Conclusion

You now have the information required to build a ball tower, all you need on top of this is patience and enough people to give you balls.
