Overview
This handy guide will teach you how to edit the graphics of the game as well as renaming the wrestlers and the promotions.Written by the guy who did the “Real Wrestler Names Mod”.
What you will need
Before we start talking about editing anything you will need to have a few things to hand these are…
Image Editing Software – Any will do…
Notepad program – Anything that can read, edit and write .txt files. Windows comes with Notepad which can do this.
Flash file editor – Now here is the major thing you will need. Luckly there is a free program that you can download called JPEXS Free Flash Decompiler[drive.google.com] that will do the job.
The Basics – Important Files
To quickly gain access to the game’s folders you will need to right mouse click the game’s name on your steam game list then left click “properties”. It should bring up a new window so what you should do next is left click the “Local Files” tab and then left click the “Browse Local Files”.
This will bring up a new folder with the main game files in it. Here are the important files you need to know about.
Characters.txt – This is a simple text file that has the name’s of all the characters in the game.
Rosters.txt – This is a simple text file that has the name’s of all the promotions in the game and what wrestlers belong to what promotions.
Game.SWF – This is the main game file that contains a lot of the music as well as some hidden art assets like promotion logos. You will need the SWF file editor I linked in the previous chapter to edit it.
Obviously the “arenas” and “costumes” folders have the image files (editable with any image editor) for character clothing and the arenas that the wrestling matches take place.
One more important file to bring up is the “Windowed Mode” Game.SWF. For whatever reason the game by default only runs in full screen mode. However in the “Alternative Versions” folder there is are 2 Game.SWF’s, one is the normal fullscreen version and the other is windowed.
If you wish to make your mod available for “windowed” users then you will need to edit the windowed SWF.
Editing wrestler names and the promotions
OK this is simple enough, it’s pretty much entry level editing for this game.
IMPORTANT! – When making a mod make sure to hit the “BACKUP CURRENT” button as it will save the info to the character and roster files.
Editing wrestler names
You can simply do this by going in to the in game editor and changing the wrestler’s names from there.
Editing promotions
This requires a little more effort but not much more. You must open the rosters.txt file in notepad and change the names of the promotions from there.
IMPORTANT! – For the changes to actually take effect you must “restore from backup” in the “universe” (editor) menu otherwise the character will still use the old promotion names.
To move wrestlers from one promotion to another while in the promotion edit menu within the game you have to press in the left annolouge stick on the controller while the cursor is on a character to be able to drag that character to any promotion you wish. I am sorry but I don’t actually know what the button is on the keyboard.
Editing promotion logos, adding new music etc.
This requires the SWF editor I linked in the first chapter so go download that before continuing to read this part of the guide.
Once you have downloaded the editor I would recommend making a copy of the Game.SWF file and moving it to your desktop or something. Once you do that all you have to do is run the SWF editor and open up that game file and you will have access to all of the game’s “hidden” files.
To edit the logo’s just simply click on “images” on the left box and use the right box to look through the images section to find the logos. Once you have seen the logo you want to edit right click on the logo and left click on the “replace” option and it will bring up a new box which will allow you to upload any image you have on your hard drive as the new logo.
Same deal with the music, (and everything else) this editor is not very hard to use.
