How to: Make a Submarine!

Overview

Hello Steam Players! I’m fofum and I’d like to give a little info on how to make a submarine. This guide also features the design the developer made in his own in-game tutorial!

The sub… The Basics

Any good Submarine needs some basics to make it function.
The minimal requirements are captured in this video!Always remember:

  • Balanced Weight!
  • Air Pump
  • Enclosed Hull

Keep in mind, each sub created has its own requirements that need to be met. Also test your sub while creating it to ensure it still functions after every addition.
Also, here is the Actual Sub! Play around with it and have fun!

The Basics…. Explained

Here’s why you need the three basic Parts.
Well each plays a vital role.

The air pump controls whether you will have any buoyancy in an enclosed air space. If you do have buoyancy, then your craft will try and float, if you don’t, it might sink!

Weight is a major factor. If your craft is not balanced, it may flip over, sink, or bop on the water uncontrollably.

An Enclosed space makes the Air pump function, protects your beats inurds, and stops your craft from sinking!.

The Sub, Developer Style

This matches the Developers In-Game Tutorial of how to make a sub.
To get the basics together, I’ve put together a simple video to illustrate it.

The Developer style Submarine Requires

  • Enclosed Hull
  • Air Pump
  • Engine
  • Vehicle Controller (Not a ships wheel)
  • Jet Stabilizers (So you don’t Flip n Flop)
  • Hydrofoils (Angles Your craft up or down)
  • Propellers -Top and bottom- (Functions like the Hydrofoils Except they provide thrust)
  • Rudder (Steering)
  • Propellers -Back Side-
  • Weight (It’s all metal and some lead blocks for a keel)

The Sub… The Advanced.

Recently I have made a “Super Sub” called Grand Marshal or the Tube (it’s on steam workshop)
A very large and complex one requiring a lot more attention than just the basics.
It uses the developer’s method of making a sub, only this one has a few more key features.

That is the workshop link so Reverse engineer to your delight!

  • Ai controlled
  • Weaponized
  • Automated control blocks (Allowing the Sub to Auto dive and keep its depth)
  • More Extra additions to the basics.

As you can see, it has multiple hydrofoils and propellers, ensuring its capabilities to dive and resurface. They are controlled by an Ai and Automated Control block.
It is massive, about 100 blocks long.

It features an outer and inner shell, each equipped with air pumps to utilize the air available. Also, it is sectionized to make sure it doesn’t sink when one portion of the hull is breached.

With the addition of its increased size, Weight, and complexity, more thought into the design had to be made.
When you are making your own sub, keep in mind that each blocks counts. Every time you add or delete a piece on your craft, you must ensure that it has the proper balance, buoyancy, and the capability to dive and stay submerged
If anyone would like to see the building process of the Grand Marshal, Watch this!
I advise you to click around and see it being built rather than watching the entire Video, It’s a little lengthy.

Afterwords

This is my first tutorial, I understand that it is probably a little rough, but if you any criticisms, please let me know. I always would love to improve on my guide writing ability to help more people!
