Overview
This is how to make a default Portal 2 Map! This is a basic way of making maps, and is good for beginners!
Why am I making this?
I’m making this to help people make a map! I don’t know how to use hammer, so I’m telling you how to use the default map creator. Some people might want to make good maps. Proper maps. But this is not the guide for you, sorry.
Let’s get started!
Make a test chamber.
To get started open Portal 2 up. Then once that’s done, click “community test chambers”. You will see a menu. At the top it says “Community test chambers” and “my test chambers.” You can play a bit of the test chambers other people made or you can create with “my test chambers.”
To create a test chamber click “my test chambers.” Then it will show up with another menu. It will show up with all the test chambers you have made. At the top you will see a blank test chamber. Click it. Then at the bottom left of the screen, you will see “Create.” Click it.
Tools and Items
Welcome to the test chamber. So you will see the test chamber you saw in “my test chambers.” In this section of the guide we will be talking about Tools and Items.
The first thing you need to do is hold LMB on a wall and drag across the wall. It will turn yellow. That is the highlight tool. Aka the courser.
To move use the “A” and “D” keys on the keyboard. To move up and down or forward a backward use the scroll. Or use “W” and “S” keys.
Now lets look at the items tab.
You will see a bar at the left of the screen, hover over it. You will see the items in the game. But not all of them, sadly. Then drag and drop!
To edit an object click on it! To connect the object to another object. Like a button to a door, click on it and press connect. Then a blue bar thing will attach to your mouse.
Now just create a test chamber!
Thank you
Thank you for using this guide. I hoped this was helpful. Bye!
