How to Mod Music In Super Hexagon for Super Hexagon

How to Mod Music In Super Hexagon

Overview

Ever want to play a SilvaGunner High Quality Rip (or anything else) while playing Super Hexagon? It’s actually really easy, I’ll tell you how.

Before we start (Music, how to reach file)

Before we start, you should know that:
Music that has been tested so far has only been mp3, so make sure that’s the kind you have before you begin.

In order to reach the file, you must
(Method 1: Direct)
-Right click on Super Hexagon in the Steam Window
-Click “Properties”
-Go to the “Local Files” tab and hit “Browse Local Files…”
-Go to Data -> Music

(Method 2: File Explorer, Windows)
Go to This PC -> C:/ -> Program Files (x86) -> Steam -> Steamapps -> Common -> Super Hexagon -> Data -> Music

Good? Good. OK, let’s continue.

How to add music

One thing to note is that when you arrive, you will see 6 .dat files titled music(0-6).dat. Each of these music files correspond to each gamemode:

0 > Homescreen, (normally plays nothing) will cut off when another track is played.
1 > Hexagon/Hyper Hexagon
2 > Hexagoner/Hyper Hexagoner
3 > Hexagonest/ Hyper Hexagonest
4 > Black & White (assumed, not completely sure)
5 > Ending Music (Get to Black & White stage and die for the first time, assumed placement)

In order to use your own music, move all the files to another file that you made (preferrably in the SH folder, it can’t read it if it’s not titled any of the already existing files/folders, so name it something like realmus) so the game doesn’t get confused. Move your MP3 files in. Now here you may be thinking “OHMYGODFIREITDOESN’TREADTHISISASHAMYOUWAD” but be patent, because all you gotta do in order to fix this, is to rename the file extension from .mp3 to .dat. That’s it. That’s the only thing keeping you away from doing it. The music will even start at the random points like it normally does. You’re done now, have fun.
