Overview
All the TF2 Paint colour codes you’ll need to customize the cosmetics in SFM and how to do it
1. Preparing the model
First of all, you need to prepare the cosmetic to be paintable.
b. RMB again on the cosmetic, then go to “Show in Element Viewer” > “Model”
c. LMB on the “+” on Materials
You’ll see now that there’s two subsections: one normal (the red) and one blu. You understood correctly: you can customize how the cosmetic appears in both red and blu, so you dont’t have to go back and forth in this section.
d. LMB on the base color and put the rgb codes here:
Remember to always put the rgb color on the $colortint_base string.
If you picked a single color, put the same rgb code in both red and blu sections, but if you picked a team color, don’t forget to put the right code to the right place. Might be a bit awkward to have a red team color for a blu player, wouldn’t it ?

3. To finish…
After you’ve put your colors, if your player is still in red, you can switch it to blu.
Simply right click on the model > “Set Skins” > “0” (for red) or “1” (for blu).
And voilà ! Your character is ready.
