Overview
Some find it easy and won’t understand why should there even be a guide on this. Well, I didn’t. I used to be frustrated by lock picking all the time and even decided to ignore the treasure chests completely. The problem was to hold thumbsticks still while simultaneously hitting RT as fast as possible. I know that there are others who have the same problem.Well here’s what you should remember to save time and avoid frustration.
Instructions
1. Don’t try to rotate the thumbsticks.
2. Try to find the matching position instead from the very beginning. Use one of these four positions for L thumbstick: north, east, south or west.
3. Sometimes, if these don’t work, you have to try additional four positions: northeast, southeast, southwest or northwest.
4. When you have found the correct position, hold the thumbstick.
5. Repeat the same for R thumbstick.
6. Hold both thumbsticks and hit the RT button as fast as possible.
You might still fail, but at least you won’t be spending time on rotating. And it’s easier to hold the thumbsticks still, if you use the method described above. It usualy takes me 1 to 3 tries to pick a lock.
Note. If you cancel lock picking, the correct position changes on next try.
P.S. I haven’t tried to pick a lock with a keyboard and mouse, but I assume the same principles apply.
