Overview
Here in this guide you will learn how to play Counter Strike Source by its default mode.
Where to get started
You join in and select a server, remember to join populated servers with low latency if you want a good game. Higher the latency means gameplay will be harder for you.
It should be noted that there are letters in the beginning of the maps you need to understand what it means. So you’ll know which objective you are doing.
DE means bomb objective. Terrorist needs to plant the bomb at the bombsite, while Counter Terrorist needs to protect the bombsite, defuse the bomb if its planted.
CS means hostage objective. Counter Terrorist needs to escort the hostages into the safe zone. Terrorist needs to protect the hostages from the Counter Terrorist. Remember to NOT shoot the hostages, you lose money that way.
Gameplay
In the beginning of the game, all players start with $800 by default. You buy which weapon you wanted and use it to help you throughout the round. Every round everyone starts with a pistol, up to you how you want to win the game with your teams. There is 2 ways to win the game.
1. You kill all opposing team.
2. Complete the objective.
Failure to complete the objective will result to a loss. Something such as bombing the objective will also count as a loss despite if you kill all opposing team. If the bomb is not defused, the opposing team wins despite the whole team died. So remember that the objective is the key to the game!
How to survive the game
In order to make more money, you need to either get kills, complete an objective, or win the game. You can still earn money from losing, but very less money. The strategy to make more money is buying less weapons, and not expensive ones until you have enough for them. Pistols are usually the cheapest you can buy, either that or you just use your default pistol you usually start with every round. Usually its the smart way because you can steal your teammate or your enemy weapon when they die. Using it to your advantage.
NOTE!!!
If you played Counter Strike 1.6, you should notice that you no longer need to buy primary or secondary ammo. The guns you bought comes with ammo, something you dont have to pay for. So its less time and money to get them.
Joining Forces and weapons
Like Counter Strike 1.6, you can also join forces whether you want to be Terrorists (T) or Counter Terrorists (CT). Nothing will impact the game, only the looks.
There are different kind of guns you can use in Counter Strike Source, such as Pistols, Shotguns, Rifles, and Machine guns. Theres also equipments if you need some such as armor or grenades.
Overall
Counter Strike Source is a objective mode game like Counter Strike 1.6, with more updates and changes. Most of the stuff looks closely the same, but it has stuff such as stats and leaderboards. Which will track your K/D, wins, losses, MVP, etc.
There is also many mods to play from. Such as Zombie’s mod (ZM), GunGame (GG), Deathrun (Deathrun), and much more.
Remember that it also has servers run by Owners and Admins, remember to follow the rules and play fairly. Failure to do that may result in a warning, kick or ban. Cheating usually ends with permanent ban so play fairly and follow the rules!
