Changing the DOSBox emulator to xDuke – a port that ensures smooth gameplay in a modern computer environment.
1. Introducion
Duke Nukem 3D is a game whose hardware platform is so old that none of today’s operating systems has enough backwards compatibility to make it work in it’s environment. To change it, use xDuke – a simple port that ensures compatibility and smooth, original gameplay.
2. xDuke installation
1. Locate the game files.
In the Steam Library right click on the Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition and select Properties. After the window open, choose the Local files tab and select Browse local files.
The default game files localization:
C:Program Files(x86)SteamSteamAppscommonDuke Nukem 3D
2. Make a backup copy of the game files.

4. Extract the downloaded file. It should contain the following files:
5. Rename duke3d_w32.exe to dosbox.exe.
6. Paste dosbox.exe into the …Duke Nukem 3Dgamerootclassic folder.
7. Delete the content of the …Duke Nukem 3Dbindosbox directory.
8. Move the contents of the …Duke Nukem 3Dgamerootclassic directory to the
…Duke Nukem 3Dbindosbox folder.
