Overview
Guide on how to make any third party controller work as an Xbox 360 Controller.
Renaming the controller
Because Viscera Cleanup Detail currently recognizes only certain types of controllers, including the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows, people with third party controllers may be unable to play the game, for example, in split screen.
This guide will show how to make the game recognize any third party controller as an Xbox 360 Controller. In order to achieve this, you will have to rename your default controller to “Xbox 360 Controller for Windows”.
1. Press “Start”, type in “run”, and press enter. In the Run window, type in “regedit” and press enter.
This will open Registry Editor, where you will be able to rename your controller.
2. Now navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSystemCurrentControlSetControlMediaPropertiesPrivatePropertiesJoystickOEMVID_0E8F&PID_0003 (the folder name VID_XXXX… for your controller will be slightly different)
3. Double click on “OEMName” and change value data to “Xbox 360 Controller for Windows”.
If you did everything right, the new name of your controller should appear under Control Panel>Devices and Printers, by right-clicking the controller icon and going to Game controller settings.
Setting up the controller
1. Now go to www.x360ce.com and download x360ce (32-bit or 64-bit version depending on the game version you play).
2. Unzip the archive, launch x360ce.exe, and set up your controller by following on-screen instructions.
3. Two additional files will appear (x360ce.ini, xinput1_3.dll), cut all three and paste into the Steam game folder:
C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonVisceraBinariesWin32 (for 32-bit version)
C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonVisceraBinariesWin64 (for 64-bit version)
4. Play!
