How to Reset Your Game’s Economy [ATS]

Overview

Introducing an economy mod into your game can often mess up your game’s economy, leaving you with no jobs to take. In that case, resetting your game’s economy is your best option. Follow this guide and learn how to do it, it will come in handy. ATS version of the guide.

Introduction

This is the ATS version of my ETS2 guide.

Introducing an economy mod into your game can often mess up your game’s economy, leaving you with no jobs to take. In that case, resetting your game’s economy is your best option. Doing that will reset and repopulate your jobs list (Quick Jobs and Freight Market) and return you to your home garage. Before resetting your game’s economy, make sure you have finished with your last job as to not lose money, progress and experience. It is best to do this when you are roaming freely.

Below are two methods that you can use to reset your game’s economy: both will work, choose the one you prefer.

Method 1: Config File

This method utilises changing your profile’s configuration file. Follow these steps:

  1. If your profile is stored locally, follow step 1.1. If your profile is stored in the Steam Cloud, follow step 1.2.
1.1 LOCAL PROFILE: Go to My DocumentsAmerican Truck Simulatorprofiles and find your profile. This can be hard if you have multiple profiles. Profile folder names are the hexadecimal equivalents of your profile name, so you can use an online hexadecimal to text converter to find your profile easily.
1.2 STEAM CLOUD PROFILE: Go to My DocumentsAmerican Truck Simulatorsteam_profiles and find your profile. This can be hard if you have multiple profiles. Profile folder names are the hexadecimal equivalents of your profile name, so you can use an online hexadecimal to text converter to find your profile easily.
  2. Open the file named config_local.cfg in the profile folder in your preferred text editor (I recommend Notepad++).
  3. Find the line uset g_force_economy_reset “0” and change the 0 (and only the zero!) to a 1. Save the file.
  4. Launch American Truck Simulator and load into your profile. You should receive a warning message saying Game change detected, etc. This means your game’s economy has been reset successfully.

Method 2: Game Console

This method utilises the game console. Follow these steps:

  1. Enable the developer console if you haven’t yet. Instructions on the SCS Software Forum: [link].
  2. Launch American Truck Simulator and load into your profile.
  3. Open the console.
  4. Type in uset g_force_economy_reset 1 and press the ENTER key.
  5. Save your game and exit the profile (or the game).
  6. Load into your profile. You should receive a warning message saying Game change detected, etc. This means your game’s economy has been reset succesfully.
