How to Fix Config not Working
In some cases, people aren’t able to change the settings of Dead or Alive 5 and neither open its config file. This can be frustrating, but it can be fixed by following the method presented below, if you follow all steps in the presented order.
METHOD I
1. Launch Steam -> Open your Steam library
2. Right-click the game -> Click “Properties”
3. Click “Set Launch Options” -> Make sure it is completely empty!
It should look like this:
METHOD II
1. Go to your Windows desktop
2. Right-click anywhere in the free, empty space of the desktop
3. Move the mouse to “New” -> Click “Text Document”
4. Open the new text document
5. Paste the following inside it:
[DOA5LR startup setting]
SCREEN_TYPE=WINDOW
RESOLUTION=1024×768
SHADOW=DISABLE
SHADOW_RESOLUTION=1024×1024
ANTI_ALIAS=0
6. Click “File” -> Click “Save As”
7. Change the name to
DOA5LR.ini
8. In “Type”, choose “All files”
9. Click “Save”
10. Move the file to C:UsersYourUserNameHereDocumentsKoeiTecmoDOA5LR
OBS.: “YourUserNameGoesHere” is different for every individual. It’s your computer username.
METHOD III
Make sure you are logged in to an Windows account that has administrator permissions and privileges.
How to Fix Dead or Alive 5 Last Round Not Launching, “Vcomp100.dll is missing”
METHOD I
1. Go to Microsoft Redistributables download page[support.microsoft.com]
OBS.: If the link ever stops working, just search online for “Microsoft Redistributables” and look for an official site which has all of them (they start from 2005)
2. Download and install these Redistributables:
Download and install them in the same order of this list, starting by the top
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update[www.microsoft.com] (x86 and x64)
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)[www.microsoft.com]
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x64)[www.microsoft.com]
- Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019 (x86 and x64)
- Visual Studio 2013 (VC++ 12.0) (x86 and x64)
- Visual Studio 2012 (VC++ 11.0) (x86 and x64)
If your game still isn’t running, you may have to download more Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables. I recommend the following guide in this case:

METHOD II
1. Launch Steam -> Open your Steam library
2. Right-click the game -> Click “Properties”
3. Click “Compatibility” tab -> Click “Browse Local Files”
4. Right-click the “game” executable -> Click “Properties” -> Click “Compatibility” tab -> Check “Run in compatibility mode” -> Choose “Windows 8” -> Check “Run as administrator”
5. Right-click the “startup_setting” executable -> Click “Properties” -> Click “Compatibility” tab -> Check “Run in compatibility mode” -> Choose “Windows 8” -> Check “Run as administrator”
Save File Location
While the game currently doesn’t feature Steam cloud saving (at the moment of this post), you can keep your progress if you keep your save file with you (for example, storing it in a flash drive, hard drive, cloud drive etc.)
By default, the save file is located at:
C:UsersYourUserNameGoesHereDocumentsKoeiTecmoDOA5LR
(it’s the folder with a weird name)
OBS.: “YourUserNameGoesHere” is different for every individual. It’s your computer username.
I suggest backing up the whole folder. Additionally, you can backup the whole “KoeiTecmo” folder if you have saves for Koei Tecmo games in that folder.
